I am in need of a new backpack and figured I might as well buy one that I can take shooting too, so I am pretty sure I'll be buying a Eberlestock Half Track in the next day or so but wanted to know your opinions on using packs for a rest.
Seems some folks just smash a dent in the pack and rest the rifle there. Eberlestock offers a clip in rest with two pads on either side to stabilize the rifle. Is there any use for this or should I just save my $30?
Second question has to do with stabilizing the rifle. It looks like the rifle will be sitting pretty high on a pack, esp if I use the sides or top of the pack as opposed to laying it flat. As such, you probably can't use a a squeeze bag, so how do you control the elevation at the rear of the rifle?
Sorry for the newbie questions, I have a lot to learn...
