Re: Utah Shootouts Nov. 12, 2011

Great to hear from you Russ.

Have had 8 or 10 people say they would be there so far.

Just to change the subject. Probably the next emails I send out I'll see what people think of having a shoot every two months. Like March, May, July, and the two day USSS in September again. All on the second Saturdays. Maybe help coordinate other local matches on the opposite months. Just a thought.

Thanks, Clint

Re: Utah Shootouts Nov. 12, 2011

See you there Bruce.

Have had a lot of input about the schedule change. I think tentatively we will plan on those four months next year at North Springs.

Mar 10, May 12, July 14, and Sept 8-9, 2012.

I think these are all second Saturdays. Oh crap, that May date is my 40th anniversary. (I'd rather be out shootin)

There are a lot of options open, we can always add to it, but for now it will be a big relief for some of us.

Re: Utah Shootouts Nov. 12, 2011

You are welcome Russ. I'll be talking to you about next years matches.

It was a little cold and snowy Saturday morning for our all steel Practical Precision Shoot.

COF included: (one shot per target, 10 points per hit unless otherwise noted)

10 silhouettes 200, 300, 385 & 500 yds.

4 - 18" square 250, 350, 450 & 550 yds.

5 - 18" round, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, timed. Need a name for this way of scoring. Took everyone with all 5 hits, best time got 50 points, next best got 45, next got 40 etc. Then those with 4 hits, best time got the next lowest score, etc, etc. Russ got 5 hits with best time of 27.13 seconds.

3 - about 3", 4", 5" hanging at 300 yds.

3 - about 4", 5", 6" hanging at 400 yds.

3 - 3 spring loaded about 8", 12" and man targets, 500, 600, 700 yds.

4 - 18" 700, 800, 900, 1000 yds. Got 3 tries on each target. Hit on 1st shot got 10 pts, 2nd got 8 pts, 3rd got 6 pts.

It started snowing by the time we got to the 600 to 1000 yard stage. Everyone could see the 7, 8 and 900 barely. The very last target for the match was the 1000 yard 18". Good thing we were running a little ahead of schedule. We laid there for a half hour trying to figure out whether we could see that target or not. Russ said he could see it. Everyone else wasn't sure. (or just plain admitted they couldn't) The score sheet here shows Russ, Kent, Stan all hit it on the 1st try. Clint on the 3rd.

Here's the scores for the morning shoot:

Russ 250
Stan 246
Shawn 201
Ethan 183
Kent 182
Clint 171
Dave 156
Brent 25 had major malfunction with his scope, then helped SO the rest of the match. Thanks so much.

Carbine we shot the 50 yard mover, 2 - 20 round strings. this is the number of hits on a 10" circle.

Stan 24
Kevin 23
Dave 22
Clint 22
Brent 17
Jina 1

The shoot house we did 2 strings of fire at 6 targets about five yards, 3 to 6" wide. This is the combined time to knock all targets down. Kevin got the best single string time of 2.84 seconds.
Kevin 8.36
Dave 10.17
Clint 10.69
Stan 14.05
Jina 18.65
Brent 18.74

Wac-a-mole targets. Did 5 strings on these pop up steel targets. This is the total hits for each shooter.
Stan 25
Kevin 19
Brent 16
Dave 16
Clint 10
Jina 4

Most of us got plenty of experience with malfunctions but had a lot of fun too. It was great to see some new people.

Next match is planned for 2nd Saturday of March 2012.

Re: Utah Shootouts Nov. 12, 2011 Results

We'll look forward to having you.

As you and everyone else has probably noticed, we only have four scheduled competitions next year.

There were several reasons for this.

These four events are for the hard core competitor. As well as the not so hard core that likes to have a lot of fun.

There will be several other times when we'll be out there doing some shooting, developing and working on targets and systems, etc.

If there is an organized effort for this I can announce it for anyone that wants to be there.

All this will be in preparation for the 4th annual Utah State Sniper Shoot 2012 - better than ever.
