---Update 8/12/2013---

This is the hotel deal:

National 9 Inn, in Price or Wellington.
$39.95 per night
At this price I had to take a look. It's just as nice as Holiday Inn.

You have to tell them "Carbon County Office of Tourism" sent you. Also tell them you are with "Utah Shootouts".

I can't get the hyper link to the hotel to work here. It work's down about 15 posts or on the website.

---Update 7/18/2013--- Plan on shooting carbine up to about 250 yards using barricades or other support. Targets will still be 3 moa or bigger.

5th Annual Utah State Sniper Shoot
North Springs Shooting Range, Price, Ut.

As of now we have 59 requests for slots. Registrations are coming in.

We will plan on up to 80 slots. Ten, 8 shooter squads. $125 per shooter.

All those that have sent their name in can pay anytime. All others send me your name before you pay to make sure we have enough help and slots available.

We have 14 offers to be Safety Officers. We need two per squad. All SO's pay $25 to shoot ($100 off, what a deal). You can decide who you want to SO the same squad with. I will match up those who don't let me know. I will contact all SO's in the next month or so to confirm and match you up.

We will need some more Safety Officers!!!!!!

Pay by July 1. No refunds after July 1. I will be depositing checks with in a couple weeks after I get them. Ben should be getting a new web site up soon. It should have a pay on line for this match. Or you can contact me to pay by credit card. Registrations will still be transferable after July 1.

For this match there will be NO squad requests. That's right, NO requests to shoot by your buddy. Unless of course you run a squad through the course of fire, two of you can shoot on the same squad. The only other exception is there will probably be 1 or 2 under 18 year old shooters who will be on the same squad as their Dads.

That's the big differences from last year.

Bring at least 120 rounds each gun, precision, carbine & pistol.

I will get a Match Proclamation up here soon with all the rules and information etc.

You can copy the form below.

We will also need spotters, score keepers, photo people, etc., that are shooting or nonshooting and I need help building up the Over the Edge Venue. That will be half of the precision shooting.

Those that register on line should be getting a receipt. If you don't, email me and let me know.

Big thanks to the crew at the range Saturday building barricades, laying out target placements and hauling target stands over the edge. We have a lot of work to do yet. Feel free to help.

I'll be at the range the week end of June 28 thru 30. We can make arrangements to get you in early so we can work in the early morning cool.

Bad news is we will need a lot more help. Good news is the reason we need a lot more help is that we are getting a lot more targets than we originally thought. We should end up with close to one hundred.

The AR 500 steel and getting it cut was donated but it's still costing us many hundreds of dollars to get it all put together. An unbelievable amount of time building the targets and stands is an ongoing process. Big thanks to Jeramie and Ron for their expertise and use of their shop.

Get your registration and fee in by July 1. The shooter list changes almost daily so I'll get a list up as soon as the dust settles. Most of the list is taken up by people who shot last year.

Talked to Steve W yesterday. We are getting good response for the prize table already.

One request, if you register and pay on line, will you please send me an email and tell me you did and if you got a receipt or not.

I can't believe how many targets we are getting, through some wheelin & dealin and hard work + some $'s. Should have some fun times ahead.

Reminder:

If you want to stay on the reserved list, make sure you send in you app and fee.

Tested out some of our new steel targets today. Sure was fun burning through $100 worth of .308, .223 & 5.56 as close as 65 yards in about an hour. I'll have to do that more often. Targets are good to go.

I'll be out to the North Springs Range this week, Thursday thru Sunday, if anyone else wants to help out with target placement, hauling etc. ANY DAY YOU HELP, YOU CAN SHOOT ALL YOU WANT NO CHARGE (no match fee, no range fee). We can let you in the gate early to work in the cool, just let me know.

This is something I'd really like to be involved in, but I don't think I have the skill to be competitive (yet) or the know how to be a SO. I wish I had seen this sooner, I would have helped with the targets.

Would this be an observer friendly event where I could follow a squad around and see how it's done?

Very observer friendly. Bring your guns cause you'll probably want to shoot too. There are matches in July and Aug too. Check the web site utahshootouts.com click monthly events. These are very first time shooter friendly too.

To all those not paid for Sept, pay up, there will be no stand by list in a couple days. Everyone else please let me know if you still plan on shooting.

Just came up from hauling steel over the edge. Almost beat the sun. Thanks for the help this week end.

Oh ya, thanks for letting me know about receipts for paying on line. It's all working out, I'm still learning about this stuff. It looks like SO's will have to mail me their $25.

Also, I hope people understand it's taking a lot of money to do the improvements to the "Over the Edge" venue. I know, we shouldn't have to put out any money for this county owned range. But this is the only way it will get done. A chunk of your match fees are going to pay for it. We'll need at least 50 shooters to break out even. The good thing is we'll be able to use it for many years to come. Thanks for your support. The shooting sports and different LE and Military training groups will benefit greatly also.

Any more money we take in will go to shooter Benifits like Saturday brunch, cash payouts or what ever.

July 1 Notice

Last Call for reserved slots. After today let me know please if you are going to register. Those that don't will get a slot if there is room. Right at the moment we have plenty of room. We are only approaching half of the ones on the shooter list which was about 60. (the July 1 deadline worked better last year)

We have 48 sponsors committed to donate to the prize table already.

Our “Over the Edge” venue is starting to take shape. Everyone will be impressed. There is a lot of work to do yet, but huge thanks to those that have been helping out.

Hey, does anyone have any leads on getting (donating) a lot of old mine ceiling bolts? They are about five feet long and about 9/16” diameter. They make great uprights and cross bars for target stands. I have used all I could find. We could use 50 or even 100 of them. It would save a lot of money.

I deleted the Official Proclamation above to make this thread not so long. It is on the web site www.utahshootous.com go to USSS and click on USSS 2013.

Just got updated on our sponsor list. We got almost twice as many companies sending prizes as we got shooters on the paid list. I'll be at the range here through the week end (match Saturday) and I'll update the sponsor list when I get back.

Those that have not paid, Please contact me to confirm your shooter status.

Update 7/18/2013

Plan on shooting carbine out to about 250 yards using different barricades or other support. Targets will still be 3 moa or bigger.

Updated sponsor list is on the website. Getting a lot of nice items. About 58 companies committed. Steve has a half a room of goodies already.

We have about 45 shooters on the paid list and the promise (those that have contacted me in the last two weeks) list.

We are in need of target stand material. Steel rod, pipe, angle iron, rebar, etc. Any of this kind of salvage steel works great. Please contact me if you know of any. If we were to buy all the targets and stands new, it would be about 8 to $10,000 worth. Awesome amount of new targets for Sept. Jeramie and I have been welding our guts out. Jeramie more than me. Probably end up with over 100 new steel targets. Plus 10 new spring loaded ones. Most will be set up on the over the edge venue.

We shot two of the new spring loaded one last Saturday. Who shot the heads off of the two 10" spikes that were holding the targets down? That was about 1/32 moa shots at 400 yards (you missed the 8" round target though).

Thanks so much for those that have helped with this range improvement project. The help has been showing up just about as fast as we get the targets and stands built. IN the last 5 months, this project has escalated to about four time what it was.

One last note: I keep getting asked about the status of the range. If it will close, etc. I am very sure it will not close, that's why I went ahead with all the targets for the over the edge etc. It might take a little extra effort because they don't have all the help they used to, but that's what I do. I just got back from spending 6 days there at the range.

Clint

Yes there are spots available. Only about 2/3 of the people who originally put their name on the list have paid or contacted me to pay. Which is about 45 shooters.

We need to start finalizing the COF, t shirts, etc.

So those who said they wanted to shoot (or anyone else) had better contact me soon to reserve a spot.

The NRA is donating a youth model,Henry .22 lever action rifle they would like to go to the top youth shooter 15 years or younger. Skyler just turned 16 so we only have one official youth shooter which would put the rifle on the prize table for any one to pick. Applications are still being accepted. Please let me know if you would like to shoot.

Shirt order has not gone in yet so you'll still get one for sure with application.

When I get pictures of the rifles, scopes, etc. I'll put them up here.

If more than a few more want to shoot we'll need some more SO's.

Utah Shootouts Notice

This is the notice I just emailed to everyone on my list.

We have a few spots available for the Utah State Sniper Shoot 2013.

If you have not paid and I have not heard from you in the last couple weeks, let me know so I can put you back on the list.

Food has been ordered and shirts will be ordered in the next few days. There will be several lunches and a few shirts ordered extra so let me know now if possible.

We could use a back up Range-Safety Officer if there are any experienced out there. Any that I have not talked to about being SO in the last few weeks please contact me.

There are close to 50 on the list to shoot. We are getting the final course of fire laid out.

Update: There will be carbine only stages out to maybe 250 yards. Still 3 moa minimum targets for carbine.

At four weeks out we already have our best prize table ever.

The NRA has donated a youth rifle and requested it to go to the top youth shooter 15 years or younger. There has to be more than one youth shooter competing or it will be put on the prize table with the rest of the prizes.

The hotel deal is this:
National 9 Inn, in Price or Wellington.
$39.95 per night
At this price I had to take a look. It's just as nice as Holiday Inn.

You have to tell them "Carbon County Office of Tourism" sent you. Also tell them you are with "Utah Shootouts".

I can't get the hotel hyper link to take here. You can use the link up a few posts here on this thread.

Any questions just ask,
Clint

Due to circumstances beyond their control, we have two guys that have put in a lot of years of military service, one that still is, that won't be able to attend the USSS 2013. Is their any out there that want to shoot and buy their slot. I'll give their money back. Please contact me.

There are a couple others that have not paid. Pay up now or loose your slot.

We have never had any youth (under 18 years old) shoot with us before. We have two this year. They will compete for the Henry .22 lever action youth rifle. We can still fit another youth or two in the match. Note: I miss understood the age limit the NRA requested for a youth division. It is up to us to determine the age, so we went with our definition, under 18, not 15 and under.

I just got back from another 10 days at the range. With some great help, we have a lot of fun stuff ready to go.

Clint

Clint I see that Shooter orientation isn't until noon on Saturday, does that mean we can confirm zero/dope Saturday morning up until 11:30 or so? Will we be able to shoot all the way out to 1000 on Sat morning?

You're welcome Capt.

Notice: We lost one timer. Please check your stuff, the county doesn't like losing these things.

I'll get back into town in a day or two after I get all this steel pulled out of the ground. I'll get the scores posted then.

I didn't get Leo, Paul and Russ recognized. They ran squads for two days just for the cause. I should have let them have pick off the prize off the prize table.

There should be some big changes for the next year. Stay tuned.

I've had several people talk to me about the next year with some good ideas and offers to help out. In the next month or so we'll decide the date and place that has some good food and have a staff meeting. Everyone is welcome. I will have an agenda made up but bring your ideas and expertise on running shooting matches.

Please contact me if you are interested.

It will tomorrow before I get home to post scores. Trying to get things organized and packed away for now.

In the mean time there is Cam's zombe shoot next month and Eric's PCPR shoot in Nov.

Thanks again for all your guys help and support. It was a couple months ago my worst fears were realized. We were putting so much into the over the edge venue that we were going to have go another year of matches to get more use out of it.

Thanks,
Clint

Utah State Shoot

Clint, thanks for all the long hours of work, planning, target placement, organization. I know you basically work on this all yr long. We are all very grateful for your efforts. We like the family reunion every september at North Springs. Thanks also to your family members who work their butts off for our fun and entertainment. Thanks to the new friends I made and the old friends that I met up with again. Thanks to my squad(E) for their patience and being all around good guys, safe shooters, for my first RO experience. Thanks to Russ W who refuses to even think about whining with his adversity. He is a stand up guy to show up and help. Thanks to my co RO, Christian. Good times.
Bruce

Results are up top and on the website.

I didn't get much video but got a short one put together. I'll get up here as soon as I can figure out how again. We should be getting some pictures soon.

Bruce, I guess it was a reunion, Heather flew in from Virginia just to help her old man out.

Congrats to all shooters and thanks again Clint for all your hard work to put on a awesome shoot. Congrats to my Dad, he worked his butt of this year and it payed off. And to my daughter Skyler Ann I couldn't be more proud, you are a rock star babe, nice shooting. Big thanks to all of the RO's it wouldn't happen without you and your dedication to our sport. Especially you guys who didn't even shoot.

Thanks for having me help out Clint.

Jeremie, it was great to meet you and your family, and Skyler seems to be a natural. Both she and Camryn were blasting through the target racks like pros at the end of the match, which is awesome, considering that this was the first time they appeared to have done any action pistol shooting.

It's great to see youth involved in the shooting sports, and being good at it right off the bat. Let me know if there is anything I can do in the future to support training opportunities for them.

Steve and Camryn, it was cool to see you approach the match using surplus rifles and pistols. Maybe we need a warhorse class. It was nice meeting you as well.

Congrats to the guys that placed. The prize table was pretty sweet. If anyone isn't going to use their Barnes or Berger bullet certificates, let me know.

I have had some issues with my web page and still working on it but there are some pics up now, with more to come.
go to higashots.com (Google may not work) and select pictures. they will be on the veiwer at the right. Again more to come.

I really enjoyed the match this year! Thanks for all the hard work from Clint as match director and continuing to provide these matches in Utah. I'd also like to thank Ron and Jeremy Young for all their hard work on the over the edge stage, plus all the RO's and others that helped make the match a success. I had a great time RO'ing my squad with Bruce B. and enjoyed the two days with our squad members, you were a great bunch of guys! Thanks go out to Schmidt Bender for the certificate I won and thank you to all the other vendors that made for a great match prize table. Lastly thanks to the North Springs shooting range staff for their continued support of our monthly and annual match.

Christian
