I have a chance to buy a old Colt AR15 SP1 with a pretty low serial # it is under 11500 in good clean shape. This is not normally something I get to excited about but is this worth anything significant from the low serial #? I have an pretty old one that was my dads that has a 130,000 range serial but this one is much lower and I think from 1966? Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks PG

According to the serial number, it was made late 1968. Now, as far as value, it is all about model (rifle/carbine) and condition.

I have a 1977 SP1 that is in superb condition. It has hardly been fired. The bolt carrier has no signs of wear on it at all. A few years ago, I paid $1000 for it. I could probably sell it easily for at least $1500 today.

Taking some good detailed pics and posting them would help us help you in determining a good value on the SP1.

I love those old ones... Just google it, prob your best bet, there is a ton of info out there on those colts.. and with a serial number that low on a colt, they are alllways in demand somewhere... If its in good shape and a good price, I dont think youd have any prob getting it sold someday to at least get your money back!

Its in good shape I need to look closer in better light at it. It is actually under 11200 and the flash hider is not removable like on my 130,000 range AR. It is full length so a rifle. I will take it apart soon and get a better look. Thanks for the post guys. PG
