I just got my GAP-10 in last week and broke in the barrel. Beyond that, I haven't had a chance to work anything up.

I have 6 lbs of the Hodgton's Varget and it served me VERY well in my bolt gun. I was wondering if anyone had worked up any kind of load I could use as a starting point. It would save me a lot of time and $ starting from zero.

Thanks.

Every rifle is different. My PET load might work in yours, but almost all hand loaders work up their own loads via ladder and/or OCW tests.

Look at the loading data published by the bullet maker and Hodgdon for a starting load and work up from there.

I haven't tried Varget in mine yet. I've been using H4350. I do have some Varget on hand, so maybe we'll just have to try some loads out, as I haven't heard of anyone using Varget yet.

I went through the threads for 260 Remington loads when I was trying to work up a load for my 260. I still had to work up a load, but by taking all the data the matched the powder, bullet weight, and other components I had, then averaging them, I got a really decent starting place.

I ended up averaging out about 15 loads that were all very close to each other to begin with. After shooting the test loads for accuracy, and velocity over a chrono, my final load was only about .3 grains away from the first average that I came up with.

I don't think there is a real shortcut to working up a load, but if you try something like I did, it will get you a decent idea of what works for the largest number of people using similar components.

As a baseline agreed, I was hoping for other folks /w 6mm CM GAP-10's to pipe up if they had any info. (There being a good chance of similar specs on the rifle) Also, I did try to find load data and there isn't any info out there that I have found due to the fact that 6mm. Creed is fairly new. Hornaday doesn't have any and its somewhat based on their 6.5 I was simply trying to save a little time and $

I have a GAP-10 in the same caliber. I am getting close to working up a load, have got the ogive measurement, just been really busy. I plan to use the info in this thread http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2814921 to work up a load. Not sure that Varget is the right powder for this caliber.

Going with 175gr SMK with Varget or Re15 will have you in the ballpark.

Do the tweeks after finding sub- 0.5"-0.75" consistancy.

EDIT: No, I did not state MOA... that's for 300yds and farther.

Thanks guys.. perhaps this isn't the best powder for 6mm ... it kicked but for me in .308 but perhaps just stick /w the afore mentioned H4350

Thanks for the input.
