OK I have been thinking on this b/c I haven't found info yet. Say you have a 3x9 - 4.5x14 what ever and you Don't have a FFP reticle is it best to zero at the "middle" power? The reason so that your not so off on longer shots as power changes. If this makes sence that would be great but I have been doing this for years. Seems like I have less worry about how much is what at where with this set up. Just run come-ups and press. Now this is not for Miling range at xPower just to zero.

Re: Variable scopes What Power to zero at?

zero it at max power!

If your zero changes when you change the scopes magnification, you need a new scope/refund/warenty work.

A scopes zero should not change with magnification adjustments.

Re: Variable scopes What Power to zero at?

It's not supposed to matter if you are using the main intersect of the crosshair.

Using the hash marks or mildots for holdover's will change the correct POI relative to true MOA or mil if the SFP scope is on any other magnification than given in the instructions for ranging.

OH. Thought that it mattered with SFP scopes. Thanks for the info.
And. Why the hell is it so expensive for companies to put the reticle in the First Focal Plane? I mean really SWFA did it. Why couldn't I have a FFP Leaplod MK4 4.5x14x50 with the TMR in the FFP for the same price. Whats the big deal. NightForce Nxs FFP is like over 2K....????

I wouldn't be surprised if Leupold announces more FFP scopes for 2010.They'll be charging more for them though. Then there's the build quality issues that Leupy has had the last 3-4 years.Still hard to beat NF.Hopefully SWFA will come out with some of there SS-HD -FFP variables for 2010 in the just over $1000 range.
