Rifle Scopes Vector scope? German glass?

I bought the vector taurus 5-30x56 for my son's rifle(Christmas gift) the skinny is that it cost$300... it's glass is about as good as can be expected for a $300 scope

No offense @russkim04, but your threads are frikkin annoying.
My advice, read all the posts you can, keep your mouth shut, read all the posts you can on every subject you can think of, keep your mouth shut.
Do that for a couple months and your questions and posts will fare far better here because you’ve educated yourself a bit. The knowledge on this site is overwhelming, and that’s a good thing.
I’ve only looked at 2 of your threads, and I shake my head at both.
Again, I am not trying to anger you or hurt your feelings, but dude, educate yourself please!!!

Go fuck yourself.... no offense

Noice!

I have a 3-12 Veyron showing up in a few days. Curious about performamce as it appears to be the original/manufacturer version of the more expensive US Optics TS12; although that one appears to have stateside QC performed. I'm not expecting miracles, and needed something for plinker 22 if it's not bad enough to return but not good enough for distance.

Also, there's a discrepancy about the "German optics/glass". I think Vector only lists the Continental line as having "German" magic, but some retailers list it for lower lines.

It arrived early, but didn't have time to compare it against other scopes. At first glance it seems pretty decent, and I can see myself preferring it over the SWFA Ultralight.

It weighs just under 18oz on my scale, and is super compact. Parallax, focus and magnification adjustments are smooth and on the looser side, but not too loose. Turrets are decent. The locking feature is nice but no where near the Bushnell TLT or elite tactical types. The detents are pretty soft, but still very useable. The elevation turret had 30 mils of total travel, with 17 up and 13 down as received. The parallax definitely works for close range, but mine doesn't have the 500 yard mark that is advertised, it goes from 200 to infinity.

The optical quality seems like it should be close to or slightly better than the SWFA. The eye relief is definitely on the shorter side just like the ultralight, but seems workable for an AR.

Overall I'm pretty happy for $170. Hopefully it works as well as it looks and holds up, but seems worth the risk for the cost.

The Taurus and Continental models have what they call a VIP lifetime warranty, so those are the only ones I buy. Just bought my third 6-30x56 Taurus about 10 min ago at optics planet. $265 using "gunguy5" 5% off.

My Primary Arms Apollo Platinum just arrived, so I compared it to the Taurus glass. I cannot see a difference. The center dot is the Vector Taurus at 30x, and the chevron is the PA Platinum at 30x. There are also side by sides.

The PA has much higher turrets, and the parallax is harder to turn. Same size objective and oclular lens, but the PA is more compact, and has a 34mm tube vs the Taurus 30mm. I have used the Taurus on 308 and 338LM no problems. The PA is known for its ruggedness and tracking.
The PA is LOW glass, and the Taurus is Schott glass. Both are ED.

The most interesting difference is the Taurus is under $300 and made in China, and the PA is $1600 with tax, and made in Japan. The Taurus is listed in Streloc, but only the PA 3-18x50 is. The Platinum is not listed.

Both have lifetime warranty, both are built like tanks. All that being said, the Apollo reticle is super natural, and will stay on my 6.5CM. My three Taurus scopes will live on 30-06, 308, and 556. (I just sold my Continental with my 338LM. That scope has even better glass, and its 42mm Ocular is like looking through a picture window!).

I do NOT have ANY connection with Vector Optics, but I think their scopes, and especially the glass they use is an amazing bargain for the money. You need to look through one to see what I mean.
