Velocity Question 175 SMk's 43.5 varget

Guys using this load recently, in a 1'10 twist 24 inch barrel
175 SMK,S
43.5 varget
Lapua Brass
CCI BR2
COAL 2.8
Neck tension.02
Only got a chance to chronoghraph this yesterday, average was 2648, is this reasonable, the grouping are good. I will stick with it, although I did a search and saw folks were liking 44.2 and more. Ideas thoughts, speed helps but I suppose if the accuracy is there why change, anyone having luck with Berger 175's either the vld's or boat-tail.

If you have not experimented any higher and no pressure signs exist at 43.5 grains, try it out a little higher and see where the groups start to open back up. With that velocity and a 24" barrel, you might want to go up in 0.2 grain increments. If I remember correctly, in my accuracy load I was using 44.8 grains in a 26" barrel and getting about 2725-2740 fps. In the end, go with accuracy over a small gain in speed.

With my 22" 1:12 twist Remington barrel (700p cut back) I get 2525-2550fps out of my load that is very close to yours. I use the FGMM primer instead of the CCI and load to 2.820 COAL. Accuracy is outstanding.

308sako, thats just what I am looking to achieve, speed and accuracy. I will try something similar and see what works.

What ranges are you shooting to? If you're not reaching out and touching past 600 yds or so, why not stay with an accuracy node where there is less velocity / you're using less powder?

If you're going long, you'll probably need some more speed behind your pill.

I am shooting only to 200 at the minute, I am hoping to try this load in the coming weeks a 500. I have a week or two to load a little higher and see how it performs at 100 and 200. I would like to have a load with klnown velocity and drop for 600 if possible.

That is the exact same load that I shoot. I also get about 2750-2760 fps out of a 25" Bartlein barrel. It shoots about 3/8-1/2" at 100yd, 3/8 to 1/2 MOA to 600yds. Pretty hot load.

Hey, .308SAKO:

What's your fired case capacity in H2O?, case length included?

I'm thinking of trying Varget again with 175s. Pressure signs have been a problem in the past with all bullet weights.
