I have a R700 LA with a Surgeon DBM. Rifle is glass and pillar bedded in a MCM A5 stock.
The issue is the magazine has a decent amount of vertical play. With even the slightest pressure on the magazine pushing it up, the bolt gets hung up on the feedlips.
It is fine if there is no pressure on the mag, but I intend this rifle to be used for hunting and want it 100% reliable.
I was curious to where the magazine seats in order to stop from moving up to far into the action? Does the feedlips contact the bottom of the action? Does the DBM taper to prevent the magazine from moving to far up? I've considered pinning the front part of the magazine to stop it from going up to far. (Rifle chambered in 30-06 using AICS 300WM magazines)
When I first got the DBM I did remove the front tang. Does the front tang provide vertical magazine stability? I know it offers more horizontal stability and there is a bit of side to side play that doesn't bother anything.
What other DBM has similar inlet as the Surgeon's style? I noticed that one of Seekin's DBM has a cut out on the side. Is that only for their CIP DBM?
