So I've been itching to get out and test a some supersonic loads for my newly re-barreled AR. Finally had some decent weather and went out back today. I had put a new fore end on and removed/reinstalled my Burris XTR afterward. So, I re-zero'd my subsonic loads again at 50m - then tested my hold-over at 100m. Not fantastic, but definitely minute-of-hog. My first group once zero'd in pic #1 and then pic #2 is 1 click down 1 click left and then my wife sent some. Pic #3 is my group at 100m with Strelok+ prescribed hold-over and pic #4 is wife group @ 100m.
I had loaded up 7 supersonic rounds. 110gr Hornady Varmint (flat base soft point) on 19.9gr of H110 with COAL 2.040. Sent 2 with magnetospeed chrono on - right around 2400fps +/-. First one to see where my hold under was on the reticle, the second was to verify (vertical). Sent the next 5 without chrono, and....well, you see the results (pic #5).
This is thru an AR Stoner heavy contour SS barre 1:8 twistl. I can live with the sub-sonic accuracy, I think, but the super sonic loads held a 5 inch group size with POI at least 6 inches to the right of my subsonic load zero. Not sure where to go from here. I'll try a different load-up for sure with a different projo and powder at least. I just didnt expect it to be THAT bad.
Any suggestions?
