i know theres two threads on these but this one is a little different. i bought a pair of vibrams online because the stores in my area only had up to 46. the 46 fit my first three toes perfectly but the big toe and the toe beside it were cramped. my size 47s came in today and the big toe/one beside it fit great but the other three are loose. im wondering if theres anything i can do to fill the gap or make them fit better. any suggestions? i dont overly want to cut my losses and lose the 20something on shipping

Re: vibram five fingers fit

I just went and looked at my two sets. I've been wearing them for about 14 months (classics and sprints). I just realized that my big toe has some extra room, but in the last 14 months I haven't even noticed and I'm pretty hard on them. Personally I'd just wear them with a little extra room but the best answer is probably just try them for a few days and see if you can even notice.

I agree with Merv. I do mainly trail running in mine which involves a good amount of elevation change. When I was sizing my last pair the guy at the store implied a little loose is better than a little tight. He was between sizes and went for the tight pair and lost his big toe nail.

Tight is better than loose when you're doing "barefoot running"-type activities, though there needs to be some room at the ball of your foot for the expansion from flexing.

Five Fingers are great...when you have a foot that fits them. They're not very forgiving for those who have odd-shaped feet.

Re: vibram five fingers fit

I went the snug route with my KSOs even though my index toe is longest and a bit cramped.

While comfortable my too long index toe has worn through the bottom of its sole...but this was likely due in some part to very coarse blacktop and my excessive fore-foot strike.

I'm now waiting on some Merrel trailgloves to come in.

Hats off to all of you. I wanted some and tried them on. They took forever for me to get on, and then I couldn't stand the feel. I wanted to like them - disappointed.
