So I was invited along on a coyote hunt to be designated video guy. My friends friend has a small ranch where he is losing chickens and livestock to the yotes.

Everything started out great.....and then...well....the video says it all.

As of late, I have got the shoot and release thing down, now I need to work on my shoot and kill thing! My buddies tell me that I could fall out of a boat and not hit water...

Yep...you are not out hunting enough if you never miss.

The camera is a Sony HDR-CX550V. It is a flash memory model with 64 gig of internal memory. Very compact and good battery life.

Great video Stan!

We have been very hard on the song dawgs around our place, over 35 so far this year. Not good on high fence place, they eat too much. The trapper has gotten quite a few, but we have learned a couple things that would help you too.

Next time, hide the decoy better - have just the decoy sticking out of a pile of brush. I think he alerted seeing something in his living room that didn't belong. It seems as if you were hidden well enough, he didn't seem to see ya'll.

Also, keep calling. When you stop, their attention and eyesight wanders away from the decoy. I use a Foxpro and hide it near the decoy if I use one, which is usually. That seems to keep them looking somewhere other than where I am.

Try to guess where they are gonna come from, they get pretty predictable, MOST TIMES LOL!!!

Moar videos please, you are pretty good with that thing!

Edit - nicely DONE on the second video!

Thanks Mike.
And thank you for the tips.

I was not running the call. I had a talk with my buddy about stopping the call, etc. He just started doing that lately...he does not even know why he did it!?!?!
Not only does it make the yotes say WTF....but while he is messing with the remote he is not concentrating on shooting.

Anyways...missing is just part of the game...I have missed myself, but we don't talk about that. LOL

I have more coyote videos up from last year on youtube so click on my user name (on youtube) and check them out. Plus there are a bunch featuring some 600 and 1000 yard shooting.

Here is one I did...it is just a compilation of pics and videos. I was the shooter and my buddy the camera guy.

Stan,

NOW THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!!!!!

I Love It when these critters go down!

How do you like the big Foxpro? I have the Fury, which has lots of sounds available etc, and seems to be plenty loud for the Hill Country. We used to have no coyotes at all until about two years ago, then they all arrived at once.

Seems as if the original settlers and ranchers in the hill country had pretty much eliminated the coyotes until a few years ago, then the sheep ranching and goat herding gave way to lots of smaller "weekend" ranches. Most of the smaller places aren't on the management program, and as they added more high fence, it was the perfect locale for coyotes to move in. Almost no foxes now, and saw them every week before the coyotes.

Seeing more rabbits now, maybe we are winning???

Drop me a PM if you are ever in TX, we have the guns already.
