Epic year this year- first antlered bag in 5 years, but it was worth the wait for this guy.

Hunting & Fishing Virginia Whitetail

He is just outside his ears, great 8 except left side G3 has about an inch broken off. This guy was a complete shock and would never have been an option if I hadn't been a little more selective and passed a doe.
Closest thing we could range was a fence at 317 yards, and he was atleast 40 more yards past that up the hill.
700 SPS Tactical in a Police stock. 165 Gr Speer BT SP, Win brass, CCI BR primer, 40gr IMR 3031. I help what I perceived to be about 5-6 inches over his back and it went through high shoulder, top lungs and he dropped straight down. What an awesome hunt.

Thanks guys, some of the pros would scoff at him but he is plenty of trophy for me. I have killed a bunch of 8 pointers inside the ears with not a lot of mass, so this one is fine by me. Especially considering the hunting pressure on the land where I got him, and the fact I didn't even know he was in the area. Luck of the draw, it was my time and all that. I'm as proud of the shot as I am the deer, I was attempting a lot of math in my head and trying to keep my cool.
Tripwire, where in VA are you? We are making up for a lousy lousy lousy season last year. With my limited time to hunt etc we are wearing them out my way,

That deer looks like one that I seen before....Looks nice, here is one that I shot at distance with the new 260 @ 345 yards in the neck.

Well SBM, you can no longer pick on me about the spike I hung in the Dragon Lady's maple tree in your front yard all those years ago.
What length pipe did you hang off of that thing? I hope to finish up my own 700 Grendel maybe at Christmas when I have a few days if I can get other people's crap out of my way.
What glass is on it?

Put a 26 inch PacNor barrel on it with a Leupold 8.5X25 MK4 on top. Looking at building a 243 in the same setup for groundhogs, but not sure yet.
