I would take Vivek over just about any other GOP "hopeful" as he is somewhat self-made and takes care of himself. He knows how to get results as well. I like his ideas of shaking up the permanent bureaucracy.

The last debate was literally not about America at all. Very little talk about the problem at the border and tons of talk about supporting Israel and Ukraine.

I think us "normals" are fucked. We are all still clinging to some semblance of the American Dream and just don't want to put in the time or effort to run for public office because we don't have the inclination to do so. I am as guilty of it as anyone. I have to work, and take care of my family. The last thing I want to do in my spare time is get caught in a local, state, or god forbid federal government bureaucracy.
I see it at the local level. Shit, I live in Montana (which is overwhelmingly Red) but our voters just elected basically a socialist for mayor. The other two candidates were equally as terrible. For whatever reason, people who think the government is going to somehow solve their problems for them seem to have an affinity for running for government positions. School boards, city councils, county commissioners, are all writhing with fucking idiots who all seem to work for "non-profits".
I have pretty much lost faith in the "system" as it were. When MT went all red I thought there was a glimmer of hope that we would go back to the good ol days where not noticing any type of government footprint in your life was a good thing. Guess what? Our taxes are higher, our state organizations are fucked (Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks in particular) and I wouldn't call the future rosy. We are overrun with blue state people who ironically have basically been given the red carpet treatment by all the Republican politicians who tout all the benefits of moving to MT.

Take a hard look at the GOP. Look at who is in office. Look at who is in leadership. Look at who the donors are.
Is that "our" party? Do they really uphold our ideals? Do they really push for legislation to further benefit the conservative and freedom loving Americans way of life?
When was the last time they repealed a single line item of any gun control legislation? No, sunset clauses don't count. When was the last time they eliminated a federal agency? When was the last time they cut the legs out from under one of the dem's headline pieces of legislation? They had all three branches of government for two years. They passed some tax legislation, but what else did they do?
I'm serious, look really hard at the GOP and think if they're really conservative.

You may have missed my point. To use a term that seems to be popular these days...I don't "identify" with either party. Obviously, on paper, one seems like the lesser of two evils. I am pretty much convinced that they are all pretty much bought and paid for.

Hell I live in one of the most Republican states in the union and we are represented in Congress by a guy from Maryland, a guy that is sort of from here but also has ties to California, another guy who was ousted from his Cabinet position by Orange Man, and a lone democrat who has been in office far too long. Our state legislature is full of Republicans. I know a guy who served a term in the legislature. Former military from a very small town in MT. Probably about as "grass roots" as you could get. He served one term and moved on to other ventures because the bureaucracy was too much to take. This is coming from a guy who served in the military, who is no stranger to unbearable bureaucracies. And this is at a state level. Show me a grass roots candidate who isn't completely bought and paid for by somebody and I am all in.
I’m not the one calling the GOP “our party”, you are. But they are the ones leading, funding, and driving the agenda of the party. They would much prefer you send in your check and shut your conservative mouth because they don’t give two fucks about you, and there’s absolutely nothing you or anyone else can do about it.
