I would like to add a bipod to my rifle. My original thought process was a Harris HBRMS with a QD mount. But the bipod would mount up on my 9" rail right were I have my Magpul AFG. Thats the point on my rail my hand feels natural to hold when I'm shooting. So one of my concerns is distrubting my way of shooting. Not saying I can't change it or adjust but I came across a possible alternative solution the Vltor Modpod which mounts directly into the side of the rail verses underneath it. My thinking is that it would allow me to add a bipod while retaining the AFG keeping my hands free of the Modpod while shooting with it not deployed. It's also lighter then the Harris bipod which is a key aspect I'd like to stick with. Having a stainless steel barrel adds enough additional weight to the front of the rifle let alone piling on more. But I know very little about the Vltor Modpod and I'm not sure wether I would retain similiar aspects that the Harris bipod provides. I do know it would not have the swivel ability the Harris HBRMS has but I'm not sure how prudent that is to begin with. Shooting from a bipod is still very new to me but an area of shooting I'd like to work on.
