Volquartsen T-17

Re: Volquartsen T-17

Stainless steel still has steel properties, just more of one kind to resist rusting as quickly. Stainless steel can be made to be non-magnetic, especially in surgical implants, but is not inherently so.

Re: Volquartsen T-17

having worked in and around stainless quite a bit, we always carried a magnet around in case there was a question if it was polished steel, or stainless... most stainless is non magnetic...but yes, some is, and in my experience its been very slight...Just a surprise. The 17 is shooting way to well to complain very much. lol

Re: Volquartsen T-17

Here's my 1st 100 yard 3 shot group with the .17.

Hope this works. 10x40 Leupold elite helps

Re: Volquartsen T-17

Awk! just tried the savage SS and sure enough, the magnet sticks... guess I better read my own signature...lol also, it's a TF-17 by Volquartsen and so far I couldn't be happier. Hope to try it @ 150/200 yards before the snow hits.

Re: Volquartsen T-17

I hate it when that happens! I've got the older VQ 17hmr and it is just plain fun also. You'll need to start buying rounds by the case...and finding more rats to shoot. High quality problems all the way around. Cheers.

Re: Volquartsen T-17

yup, problems I look forward to. Didn't beat the snow however, so I'll be sitting here with 3 different types of .17gr. ammo to try.
My lungs won't allow outside below 20 degrees. it's 9 right now, sun just went down.

Re: Volquartsen T-17

TF-17 looks like one badass 17... I too am a huge fan of the 17hmr.. Currently have a cheap savage that is a tack driver with the 20grn CCI FMJ rounds... I think once I'm Done with my GAP-10 build ill be looking into Getting one of these little devils... nothing destroys critters like a 17hmr...

Re: Volquartsen T-17

you were/are right Valise, my experience was in a food processing plant (maintenance dept) and everything on the processing side was stainless, NONE of it was magnetic... but if my other stainless guns are then I was showing my ignorance (again)
