While this is an entry level scope, I have one coming in before weeks end. Probably Thursday. Would anyone be interested in seeing what this scope package consists of by video review with honest opinions, and a couple days after that a range report? It will be mounted with some pretty decent rings with 6 points of contact on each, (Weaver tactical rings) so there will be no excuses if there is a malfunction with the product losing zero, etc.....

Re: Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50

Guess not? LOL I will still do something but to a lesser extent for the people who may be on a budget looking for a nice scope. If anyone has any requests on things to be shown on the scope, please let me know. I can go into depth as far as anyone wishes...

Re: Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50

I have the 1" tube version from SWFA that they sell for $100 which I used as a placeholder scope while waiting for the PST. I had to send it back to Vortex as the scope focus was noticeably blurry at magnifications on the upper end. They said adjustable objective was the culprit as there are springs that push against the objective lens and it can sometimes bind. The solution is to use a clean cloth and apply a little pressure directly to the lens, which should hopefully release or equalize the spring pressure so everything works again. Just something to keep an eye out for. As always, Vortex customer service was excellent.

Re: Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50

This the 30mm tube or the SWFA special 1" one?? Love to hear/see a report either way. I had both of those models elevation/windage knobs move under recoil of my .308 calibered PSS......love to see if yours will hold the adjustments under recoil any better. I ordered another one of the SWFA $99 specials to put on the 40X rimfire but it would be nice to be able to use it on the centerfire rifle if needed.

Re: Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50

A friend of mine just purchased one and is going to put it on a 7mm. I am a fan of Vortex and own a few but for some reason I don't think this thing is going to hold Zero. Time will tell when Deer season comes around.

SWFA 1" model. I am about to receive it tomorrow, and the base for my rifle on Friday. The base SHOULD BE HERE BY NOW, but that is covered in another thread. I have a ton of Magtech 150gr. ammo to use in my 700 .308. This ammo good enough for a box test? Never done one, but looked up the procedure....

Re: Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50

I have the 1" model. Its a decent little scope if you want to use it for a rimfire rifle or at most a .223. It tracked fine but wouldn't hold zero on my .308 so there was always the constant readjustment to get it to group. I also had the same problem that Jim-VT had with the AO.

I have the 30mm Crossfire, had this same problem (turrets moving under recoil on my .308). Sounds like something Vortex should look at. Other than that, I'm happy with it. Great scope for the money.

Re: Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50

I have the 1" model too. Great optics, piss poor construction of the scope. It was very accurate but didn't necessarily track so well. Once there, mine held zero just fine. But, it's on a .222 Rem.

In short, this is a classic example of, "You get what you pay for." For light rifles that don't get used too much this is a great buy. For your everyday hard working rifle....not so much.

Re: Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50

as mentioned above, any review can be helpful, be sure to include the good the bad and the ugly of the scope and any comparisons you can make to any other optic you may have in possesion.

clarity of glass and image at different magnifications, reticle, turret operation and labeling of adjustments, adjustability of the objective, overall and specific workmanship / construction - good or bad.

Re: Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50

Welp!!!! I have a range report for you guys!! Before you read ahead: THIS IS NOT BASHING VORTEX, THIS IS A LOWER LINE OF THEIR'S AND THEY TOOK CARE OF ME IMMEDIATELY UPON MY FIRST PHONE CALL. THEY SENT ME A SHIPPING LABEL IN AN EMAIL NO QUESTIONS ASKED. THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS PHENOMENAL AND THEY ARE A GREAT COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH! THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS! As much as it pains me, I promised a review. Sorry, but no box test needed guys. Today I went out and zeroed my new rifle at Knight's Trail Gun Range in Sarasota, FL. I was extremely impressed with the rifle. Once it was zeroed in I was shooting 5 round groups that could've been covered with a dime... and then my last shot (25th of the day) happened and the reticle started looking funny... then I noticed it had a cant to it, it wasn't perfectly straight up and down anymore... then the entire ocular lens fell out... and I was sad. The rifle is a Remington 700 SA chambered in .308 with an HS-Precision M24 style stock, Harris bi-pod, etc. You get the picture. It wasn't a Barret M107A1. I love this rifle, but I am sort of disappointed with the scope. I know it was a budget scope, but I was expecting more. The scope was useless past 16x, it just became so fuzzy. I can't wait until August when I can get a completely new scope, I am definitely leaning toward the Mark 4 now, I was going to try and save a bit of money and go with the PST. Video is being uploaded to YouTube now... Will post link soon.

I'm still not sold on Leupold turning their program around. The Viper PST is a 'whole 'nuther animal' than the Crossfire. I have one of them too and it's a VERY well made scope that tracks well and hold zero. Those are the ones where the parts are made in Japan and assembly takes place in Wisconsin.

Also, FWIW, I watched the video. While you did say you were pleased with Vortex Optics for sending a replacement scope, in the end the video did not come across as a positive for them. My $.02 would be not to have posted that until the second scope went out on you, if it did. Even the best of the best scopes break and sometimes you get to be the first time user of one that does.

With that said, I won't recommend the Crossfire for everyday hard shooting/working rifles. But, I'll damn sure recommend the Viper PST for that over a Leupold of any kind right now. When Leupold gets their poop in a group then I'll change that statement.
