Spotters Vortex Diamondback HD 20x60 85? Is it a decent first spotter?

I have had one for about a decade... I wished I had spent the extra money and gotten the Viper HD version...

I'll probably send it back to Vortex, because the lenses have never been very clear, and always been very blurry and unable to focus 100%. Must have been a factory defect, but I stopped using the damn thing years ago, because I started shooting at known distances, and bought higher-magnification scopes that didn't require me to use the spotter. So it's just been sitting collecting dust.

I'll probably order a nicer spotter now that I have some extra money. Thinking about a Nightforce, Zeiss, or a Kowa 774 with their 70x eyepiece.

Well i have one and its very respectful !!

I just also got the Kowa TSN88A ..Yep the Kowa is noticeably better than the Diamondback , but for the money the Diamonback is excellent.

We actually put the Diamondback against the more expensive Viper that a friend has...therre was nothing in it in regards to sharpness. The only area the Diamondback suffers from quite badly is Chromatic Aberration ...apart from that it very good performance , especially at its price point.
