Any thoughts to get started with longer ranges using this scope? I'm looking to spend about $1500 (minus glass) to get into precision bolt shooting. I'm not sure I want to step up to a Viper PST Gen II. Any other alternatives or suggestions? maybe a used scope?

I picked up one to throw on a not so often used prairie dog AR. It's.... ok. Seems to track alright, turrets are pretty mushy compared to my PST Gen 2 or Razor Gen 2, but still responsive enough to use without looking at it. Glass is ok up until 20x, then it gets a little dark, but still usable. Not really unexpected for a budget scope.

At the end of the day, it works for what I do with the gun. If I was looking to put it on a bolt gun and use it more often, I'd, at minimum, save up a couple hundred more and pick up a used Gen 1 PST. Save a little more, and there are a ton of new great options in the $600-$1000 range.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking to shoot 300 yards max most of the time so it's not critical if it's relatively "budget". Might be a good idea to start stalking the sales on here. Also, nice rifle!

I have had both as well and agree with cell tech. One of the Dbak tactical scopes That is SFP doesn’t have a parallax adjustment. Stay away from that one. The 6-24 focuses down to 10 yards while the 4-16 focuses down to 20 if you care about that.

Didn't realize the parallax was missing. That's important
