I bought these on a whim. The AB version is $999 currently at scheels. Free shipping

I primarily shoot deer out to 800 yards on crop damage tags for farms. I’m hoping this is a simple solution to do away with using my phone, kestrel 3500 and rangefinder independently

    Currently use a Leica 2800.

I’ve been looking at going this route for a while just to simplify things. Especially when deer are really moving and your swapping front, back, left right etc.

Realistically I’m hoping to range deer 800-1000 yards. Steel to say 1500

What sold me on these was the current price, AB elite, non blue tint for hunting and most of all the vortex warranty on an electronic that’s going to be used a lot.

Hoping I made the right choice 😁

My last vortex products were PST scopes which spent most of their life in boxes heading to the warranty department

    My questions

Just curious as to the ranging capabilities of these fury 5000’s vs something like a Leica 2800.

What is the common distance I should expect to reliably range a white tail deer at with these?

I've been able to range deer sized targets directly out to 800, reflective targets out much further. The reliable max measuring distance on mine seems to be about 1600-1700yd, after that the conditions seem affect them a fair bit. I did get mine to measure an elk herd at 2700 off a tripod, but this shouldn't be the performance expectation.

Mine have been very impressive in low light conditions while hunting and I use them constantly for PRS. Having the AB solution in the binos is great and it's always within .1 mils of my kestrel elite. Anyways I'm very happy with mine. I recommend turning off Bluetooth when you don't need it since it tends to eat up the battery

Edit: vortex reps told me there will be a a future model that will have a etched miling reticle, but will have no longer have AB since they bought geoballistics.

I like the ranging capabilities of mine, but haven't loved them in low light. Granted, my backup is leica ultravid 10x42, so not an apples/apples comparison.
Right now I’m using the Leica 2800. I’m sure the fury will be able to range later than that can. The Leica has good glass. But isn’t great for low light

I use Athlon Cronus 10X42 binoculars currently. So even close to those is perfectly fine. I generally locate or spot with bino then do my identification with the rifle scope in low light

I’m not looking so much for great binos I’m looking for the ability to range deer to 800 or so and spit out the adjustments needed to simplify my current setup

Some fields we cover are shots 700 yards one direction and 500 the other. I have a paper drop chart on my gun but only for inside 500. For longer shots I like to input kestrel data and currently use StrelokPro. Been dabbling with hornady as well.

It’s just a pain especially when it’s just before dark and you’re shooting multiple distances. To go from rangefinder to your phone constantly adjusting the yardage in the app and what not.

You'll enjoy the Fury's, especially for that price. I ran a pair of the AB's from when they came out until this year when I upgraded to the Vectors. I racked up several kills from 300-900 yards using them as a stand alone laser/solver. The glass is decent, I believe they use the viper line. I only had problems with the glass in tough foggy conditions and they don't cut through mirage that well compared to Alpha glass (obviously).

I was only able to reach out to 1200 yds. with mine and had a very hard time hitting smaller steel targets on a flat range. After comparing them to 2 other sets of Fury's I realized there was a problem with mine as the other pairs ranged much better. Sent in for repair and they sent me a new pair.

The warranty is what really pushed me to these. I have used their warranty and they are second to none. Then to have it in an electronic like this is insane. Even if they break in 5 years they’ll just send a new/current pair.

Doesn’t take much to turn electronics into paperweights after a few years of use and no warranty

I see I wasn't the only one who couldn't pass up the Scheels deal. I had just sold my old Leupold RX-2800 and the moment I seen the Furys at $999 that money turned to thermite in my pocket.

So far I really like them but, I am disappointed they dont pair with GeoBallistics or the new Applied Ballistics apps.

I've used a pair for the past 3 years, for field matches and hunting. I've thought they were easily the best value in a set of LRF binos with a full solver for a while and at $999 that's a total no-brainer.

Did you end up going the vortex route?
I was about to get a new pair of sig 6ks or 10ks, a local shop had pretty good prices on them. But they have an even better price on the Fury with AB. Mainly shooting steel out to 1600-1700 yards, and hunting with them out to about 800 yards. Don't really think i need the 2500$ sig 10k's if the fury's work good fine. I've read they're typically within .1 of a mil...Plenty good inside 1000 yards.

I got the vortex. Haven’t had a chance to field them yet. Seems like decent glass just playing with them out the window of my house

It’s single digits here lately and I’m in the process of moving my entire gun room. When it settles back in I’ll be learning the AB end of them

I know the sigs in the past I looked through had the blue tint.

The warranty on the vortex is insane for an electronic. Which is what pushed me to get them. Only time will tell if they’re good for what I want. 90% of their use is going to be ranging whitetail deer inside 800 yards

I did a little research and it looks like vortex discontinued the Fury HD AB's. I end up just ponying up the additional $ and got the new sig 10k's. I really didn't want to spend that much, but oh well. Heard great reviews on the new sigs, so we will see. Hope it was the right choice over the new vectors, but if i went with vectors id be paying msrp and i only paid 2100 something for the sigs.
