Operating question that I can't find an answer to: Once calibrated and sighted, will I need to go through one or both operations again if I don't leave the unit installed? I would like to side mount the 4000 but that means taking it off every time it goes in the case. Curious how well it maintains "zero" for everyone side mounting, or not leaving it mounted for any other reasons.

Unfortunately there are too many variables to give a correct answer. Some people might be able to accomplish a minimal shift and others might not have such luck depending on what your setup and what your mounting procedures is. IMO whenever it is unmounted and mounted it should be re-zeroed to know 100%
