Rifle Scopes Vortex PST 1-4 Reticle Choice MOA or MIL

I am going to buy one of these very very soon and am having a hard time deciding between an MOA or MIL reticle. I noticed Liberty Optics says they like the MOA better since the reticle is larger, however I wonder if that is good or bad in the sense that the scope will be "more busy". I have not had a chance to look at both so I am not sure which one to order.

Thoughts please....

Dude... They are the same reticle, just the MOA is a bit thicker.

What? One is graduated in MIL the other in MOA.

To the original poster, either will work the same as the knobs correspond to the reticles. Really depends on which you are more familiar with or use to using. If this is your first foray into optics with matching knobs and ret you are starting with a clean slate.

IMO MIL based sytem is easier to commit to memory but only because I learned that system first.

I checked on the sizes I talked about in the original post and those were for the 6-24, not the 1-4... maybe I should do my research as well

They are both identical in appearance. I have the MOA, it works fine.

X2 on what A06 said...as long as the knobs match the reticle you're GTG. You don't want to be sighting MIL and correcting MOA, or vice versa, if you have th choice. That gets confusing unless that's what you already know.

Well I am not worried about that aspect I am worried about the size of the reticle itself...liberty optic commented on their website that the MOA is longer and they liked that better as where the MIL is not as long, yes I understand why but what I am wondering is which one will work the best with out cluttering the view. Clear as mud?

Okay, the ring and center dot parts are 'the same' but the moa one looks to have more holdovers.

I have an MOA one, it's not too big.

Go with whichever system you prefer.

OK - just my perception, but this is the area where I see a significant difference in my $500 PST 1-4 MOA and my $1,500 NF 2.5-10x32, (also MOA).

The 2 MOA stadia lines on the NF appear further apart and quite a bit more visible than on the PST. Both are 2 MOA per line. With my 61 year old eyes, I can (with some moderate effort) use the NF reticle for holdovers. With the PST it requires more effort/concentration and I find it faster to dial in anything significant.

I have not seen the Mil version of either, but on the PST 1-4 I suggest it really won't matter.

The PST's reticle is designed for speed and it works very well. For 3-Gun I choose it over the NF for anything where the 1x option has an clear advantage or where the 4x max power does not pose a disadvantage. (Generally 0 to 300 meters or so). Much past about 300M and the NF, with more power and a more precise reticle, is superior - no surprise there. (All depending on the size of the targets...and on and on).
