More than likely it's an older discontinued reticle like the ebr7d or something. Those are the only ones I've ever seen on sale regularly. Vortex typically doesn't enforce MAP on discontinued products. They just dropped some new viper scopes so maybe that why?? I’ve seen them on sale several times around that price.
Different game. The VHD is a hunting line whereas the PST is a “tactical” line. There is a whole thread about is right now.Anyone know how pst compares to the new viper hd scopes?
Yes, I’m pretty sure the new Viper HD scopes are replacing the PST2. But maybe @Scott_at_Vortex can confirm?Midway keeps reducing the price of vortex PST Gen 2 just wondering if they are discontinued or is this a really good sale
The Viper HD's are replacing standard Vipers,Viper HS. The PST's are a different line. The Midway scopes, as someone mentioned above, are discontinued reticles which is why they are on sale. Hope that helps.Yes, I’m pretty sure the new Viper HD scopes are replacing the PST2. But maybe @Scott_at_Vortex can confirm?
Well I looked through and picked up a viper hd today. So time will tellThe Viper HD's are replacing standard Vipers,Viper HS. The PST's are a different line. The Midway scopes, as someone mentioned above, are discontinued reticles which is why they are on sale. Hope that helps.
that does not look fudd friendly lol for metal gong bangin at 300 yards ....and i am a fudd
Thoughts on the glass? What would you say it compares to? Better than the PST G2? I haven't heard of anyone looking through one yet, but obviously you were impressed if you bought it.Well I looked through and picked up a viper hd today. So time will tell
I agree it looks much simpler but it still looks like a view from a WW2 submarine periscope lolEBR-2C is one of the least cluttered tree reticles...if you can get over the open center
It's a solid scope for sure. It's the best "throw it on the spare rifle" scope I have. It never has a permanent job, but it serves its purpose incredibly well as a "substitute teacher".At this price, I'm really tempted to make the jump from MOA scopes... been hard swallow replacing them all. I know it's not alpha tier, or even alpha adjacent, but good glass for $600 when needing to replace 6 or 7 scopes as a poor.
It was definitely clear. Didn't seem to get dark around the edges at higher power. I did notice some CA looking at a tower about 600+yrds from my driveway and it was very clear though. Eye relief seems good. But I am changing from a leupold 3x9. Turrets seem very positive definitely not as heavy as a pst2. I will get some range time tomorrow. Take my review with a grain of salt. I'm a glass poor fudd shooting a Savage. Best glass I have is a nightforce nxt that I haven't looked through in a couple years. As long as it tracks reliably it will suit my purpose. I don't shoot competitively.Thoughts on the glass? What would you say it compares to? Better than the PST G2? Don't overlook this solid scope. I replaced quite a few Viper HST 6-24x50's with these, and didn't look back.At this price, I'm really tempted to make the jump from MOA scopes... been hard swallow replacing them all. It’s ultra-Fudd friendly since you don’t need to dial. 300yds will be somewhere around 1 mil of drop with most centerfire rifle cartridges.that does not look fudd friendly lol for metal gong bangin at 300 yards ....and i am a fudd
They have both MOA and Mil versions on that sale.At this price, I'm really tempted to make the jump from MOA scopes... been hard swallow replacing them all. I know it's not alpha tier, or even alpha adjacent, but good glass for $600 when needing to replace 6 or 7 scopes as a poor.
Yeah, I'm trying to make the switch and replace a bunch of MOA scopes. Mostly because of the scope options only available with MIL reticles. They have both MOA and Mil versions on that sale.
Not sure if it's me coming from a 3x9 to a 5x25. But seemed hard for me to get behind at highest mag. Pics are at 5,10,25 trying to hold my phone steady. Take it with a grain of salt. That's an insane price. What's the difference between 2c and 7c?
