This past Friday I received my Vortex AMG UH-1. Being a huge fan of the "Made in the USA" AMG series scopes I put in my order for the UH-1 soon after its announcement. I love my AMG 6-24x50 and used to be a big Eotech fan but was having issues with their dots and my eyes, some fellow shooters said I might have an astigmatism; however, my eye doctor says I do not and I've tried the polarized glasses trick and still see the same dots, I do have 20/15 vision so maybe I pick up the dots more than others I don't know, but what I can say is that the UH-1 is easier on my eyes than the Eotech series I've used in the past. The UH-1 is built SOLID, every bit as solid as my old Eotech's so I think it will stand up to quite a bit of abuse, though I do wish it had some type of caps to protect the glass when not in use as those cups are just begging to catch all kinds of debris. The glass, well this is a 1x optic but from my limited experience so far I am extremely impressed, I do not see any major color shift with both eyes open and the reticle is really nice, I'll have to get more time with it before I can talk about CA and any other anomalies but first impression is fantastic. Illumination proved to be excellent, you can go down very low for extreme dark situations and go way up to be extreme daylight bright, there is some bleed at extreme bright levels but with the proper background lighting that bleed all but disappears (meaning don't use high illumination levels in dark areas). Also, a nice surprise is that the center dot is brighter than the rest of the reticle but not too much brighter, this will help with POA for some I believe. That's it for now, I think this will turn out to be an excellent option from Vortex and a definite competitor to Eotech and Aimpoint. The built in quick release is superb and adjusts for different width picatinny rails, but I'll have to get more time with it to see if there might be any shift though it locks down nice and tight so I am doubtful there will be any issues. Here are a few pics of the UH-1 on my 300BLK...
