I need help deciding on the new vortex razor HD or a NF. It's going on a DTA srs and originally wanted to go with a USO sn3 T-PAL but don't wanna wait that long for glass. So any input would be great.

Re: Vortex razor HD

I haven't had any experience with a Razor ( I don't even think I've ever seen one for that matter), but I do very much like the Nightforces. My recommendation is the 5.5-22x50mm MLR2 reticle with a zero stop. You will definitely not regret the decision.

Re: Vortex razor HD

I agree completely with Jason, my Razors are all that I've been shooting for a year now. I'm a convert from NF. NF is a good scope, but with the feature list, price point and the CS that Vortex has shown time and again to many customers it's tough to knock them.

The weak point in the box, IMO, is the bubble level that comes with it. The fit/finish is not up to the same prime quality that the rest of the scope is finished with. The fact that it is included is a big plus though, it certainly works well.

Re: Vortex razor HD

I sold a NXS to replace it with a Razor

The razor is everything a NXS wants to be, no more whole ocular moving when changing zoom
PISS POOR feature of NXS n PITA

Re: Vortex razor HD

Razors are hard to beat for the buck long range. Just shot my trg 338 at 1211 meters the other day.dialed 10mils and target hit. If you miss, the ebr2b reticle shows the miss quick for corrections. I like to shoot it at 10.5-15x as it has more clarity and field of view as well as eye relief to recover from the shot so you can spot hits. If it ever breaks, I could donate it to a little league baseball team as a bat. Hell, I think I could do that now and remount it at the end of the season and it would still be zeroed.LOL.It is a tank.

Re: Vortex razor HD

Well scarlett_red you are in luck my friend I happen to have a little league team so I would highly appreciate the donation so if you would send ASAP that would be awesome

Re: Vortex razor HD

I think I would take a look at a SWFA SS 5x20x50 FFP. I looked at a Razor for a long time and decided on the SWFA scope. Personally I think it has alot more bang for the buck. If I were going to lay down enough cash for a Razor I think I would spend my money on a used USO (which you won't have to wait 6 months for). They just have too much of a China import look. I think the parallax adjustment is a weak link and they just haven't been around long enough for a proven track record. Two grand is alot of cash for a roll of the dice.

Re: Vortex razor HD

It's a tuf division for sure I really want a USO SN-3 TPAL but got enough coin in this one gun lol plus all the scopes will more then likely outshoot me I just want the best bang for the buck. So I decided to take a step back from the 3k+ glass and look into NF and that's when I went into a local shop and they had a vortex razor so I played with it for awhile and kinda grew on me.

Re: Vortex razor HD

What are you going to use it for?

The 5.5-22 NXS is an outstanding scope. But it's SFP. The smallest groups and best LR precision shooting I've ever done were with that scope, but I sold it to get another Razor because the rifle it is going on is used primarily for tactical matches. I screwed up one to many wind calls with the NXS because I wasn't on 22x... so now I live with a thicker reticle than I'd prefer, but for the dollar, it's hard to find a better "do everything" scope than the Razor.

Re: Vortex razor HD

I had a chance to shoot a friends 260 with a Razor on top. That was the primary reason to check out the scope as I had been on the fence about them for a while. After that I'm sold that they are a good deal at that price point. Are there some things that I would change if given the chance, sure, but I have yet to find a scope that fit every single requirements I have. I currently have a NXS and a Mark 4, plus one on the way, but I will be adding a Razor soon.

Re: Vortex razor HD

Well still up in the air on glass I already ordered my AADMOUNT in 35mm so I need to pick glass. Got my new DTA srs and havent put one round down it yet and it's killing me.... Should I wait a few more weeks for the USO sn3 Tpal or get the vortex razor?????
