First, let me start of by saying that I am one of the people that started off try to save a few buck and purchased several cheaper ($100-$600) spotter in the course of 2 years ending up returning or selling them for a loss. The clarity was not there and/or the eye relief was very bad (I wear glasses).

Finally, I decided to spend some money on a nice Spotter. I ended up getting the Vortex Razor on the recommendation of Scott at Liberty optics. He offered me a full money back guarantee if not satisfied.

Finally tested it out at the desert. The optics on the Razor are great. Very clear and sharp, and the color was awesome. My friend had a Swaro Spotter out there and I could not tell the difference. My friend has better eye sight that I do and he said the Swaro was a tad sharper but not worth an extra $1000 more.

As for the eye relief for my glasses...excellent. I can keep them on and use the Razor. No more getting yelled at at the local range for taking off my glasses. Highly recommended Spotter.

You can remove the 20-60 eyepiece and put in a fixed 30x one. Pretty sweet deal, I'll be saving for one soon I think.

Re: Vortex Razor Spotter

I've been waiting to hear about these. They sound great with reticle option etc. I looked through a Swaro recently and was blown away by it. I could read a stop sign and almost read a one way sign at an estimated 2500 or so. If this is comparable to that plus the option for a reticle I may have to pick one up. Time to call Scott.

Likely clearer and less money. Horus charges $400 or so to use their reticle, I can imagine what the whole spotter would cost.
