Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor worth the money?

I like the one i have but its 18x , nothing wrong with that because i mainly shoot any scope no more then 15x regardless of the distance, i am limited to 1000 yards right now anyways. Once i get a few things out of the way i will buy the 27x and i will move the 18x to an AR10. I really, really, really like the gen 2 razor and i think they are a great buy. I couldnt ask for more out of a scope but there again i cant afford anything more expensive either...

The Vortex Razor and the AMG are worth your time and effort. The Razor is hell for stout with a 3 lb weight. The AMG is much lighter with a slightly different retical than the EBR 2 C. Both are precise in the adjustments and the glass clarity is extremely good for both.

Nothing wrong with the 2C but if you like the 7B then keep an eye after SHOT.

Why do you think the 4 would be better than the EBR1 offered now?

I love my Razor Gen 2 and Gen 1!

Yes. I have a Gen II 4.5-27 on both my precision rifles and a Gen II 1-6 on a 3-Gun AR. Mine have been very reliable and durable. No problems and I appreciate the lifetime warranty should something go bad. I will say that the Vortex AMG line is very, very nice, too.

I do not have any complaints on my G2, it has been very reliable, tracks, with very good glass and a reticle I like. For the rifle it is on, weight of the scope was not a concern.

IMO, the XRS2 absolutely smokes the Gen2 HD for the same or less cost. Better glass, significantly lighter, integrated magnficiation lever, slightly more magnification at the top end, and a locking windage turret.

The Gen 2 has both elevation and windage locking turrets, and both are fairly low profile even when unlocked.

Maybe my wires are getting crossed somewhere. One of my friends has a sticker on the windage knob of his HD Gen 2 specifically because he's had it get rolled before shooting from a barricade. Maybe it was getting unlocked in the process, and I just don't remember it locking at all - but he definitely said he had had it happen to him. My remaining points on the Bushnells stand, though.

The PST Gen 2 don't lock but the Razor's do. I've had two Gen 2 4.5-27. I think they are great scopes with features you seldom find for the price. But as nearly everyone else has said the weight can be an issue.
Glass wise I was never really disappointed but I'm a guy who thinks my old Steiner 4-16 Military has such good glass that it is what I compare everything to. (PSA the Steiner T5Xi was a complete disappointed in comparison)

Yep, I was referring to the HD Gen 2. He had the sticker on the outer rim of the windage knob so it overlapped the turret body on the scope to keep the turret from moving without him peeling back the sticker first. I think he had a line marked on it, too, but I can't remember for sure. When I noticed the sticker, I asked him if it was there to keep the turret from getting rolled, and he confirmed it was.

Either he doesn't know what he is doing or you aren't understanding something because once the Razor II windage or elevation is locked it will not roll from being on a barricade. Have used one for years in matches and no rolling.

The shooter in question definitely knows what he's doing. I can only assume that the turret got hung up/snagged on something enough to pull the turret out to the point of unlocking, then got rolled. I guess my brain somehow converted that to not having a locking knob, but he definitely had the sticker there to prevent a repeat of the incident.

Well it does have a locking windage knob and it locks very solid. Not sure what he is doing with his but it's not easy to pop out and then roll on a barricade. You almost have to be trying to do that.

I love the gen 2 turrets...separates the men from the boys who never hit the gym from messing with my adj knobs when they want to check out my rigs. Most robust locking turrets I have ever used. Clicks you can feel regardless how cold it is and how thick your gloves are. Street price used on those is a solid 1800 and I would never hesitate to get a used one

Sounds like your friend would fuck up a wet dream if he can accidentally get the Raz Gen 2 wind age knob to accidentally roll. Hell I have enough trouble pulling them out on purpose......LOL

Perhaps He leaves the turret unlocked to make it easier and/or faster to turn.

But then puts a sticker on the turret so it won't turn by accident? Makes zero sense.

I suspect there's something else going on there - either the guy somehow managed to break the turret lock in a way that still left the turret functional (which seems like it'd be really hard to do), or ... user error...

First I have both a Gen 2, 4.5-27 and 1-6. Both keepers. As to the sticker on the windage knob - I gave up a long time ago trying to understand why folks do what they do.

:ROFLMAO:

I have an AMG, myself - so, very similar to the Gen 2 turrets. If they're locked, they're not going anywhere. I'd have to get really creative to unlock them by accident, and if I did, I'd avoid that in the future rather than try to tape the turret down somehow... If I can find a way to unlock the turret, tape isn't going to stop it from happening anyway, so...

have gen 2 razor in their 1-6 and 3-18. both are very nice though admittedly i didn't do a ton of shopping around.

i think it's scopelist has 15% off retail now, perhaps others.

the only thing i don't care for is setting zero vs how super easy it is on the nightforce nxs.

The Razor line of scopes that Vortex puts out are all great IMO. I’ve had 2 of the Gen1 Razors, and I run their Gen2 1-6 Razor, their AMG Huey, Gen2 3-18 Razor, and just bought their 6-24 Razor AMG. All definitely worth the $!
