Maybe the pre unit production cost has jumped and they don't want to raise prices but can no longer offer a discount. .
Maybe they had to eat a huge shit sandwich for the "upgrades" on the scopes people are waiting on. . . .
Maybe they still offer a discount but just through another source. . Or some other REASONABLE circumstance.
We don't know because , well. . . . .we don't know. But the "great scope for the price" is a hard market to fill. And companies can usually only fill that gap by cutting profit.
I understand current service members appreciating a discount, but expecting one is not really acceptable. It wasn't very long ago that the every company under the sun offering mil/leo discounts started. And already it seems to be "expected" during a time when our small and mid-sized buisnesses are struggleing to keep afloat and not lay off good employees because they cannot afford them.

Call me a douche bag, wtvr but like so many soldiers/leo I take my business and my steady paychecks to a business and a company that offers mil/leo discounts. I stopped shoping at cabelas here in kc till they offered one again. Like a couple guys here I went to promotive to buy a vortex and saw they were gone. You figure just here alone they lost 3 sales. So what saves a company more money? Not offering dicounts and losing multiple sales to X amount of patriotic consumers or offering a discount and getting those word of mouth sales? </div></div>
Douche bag.
(Hey, you said to!)
Go ahead, take your business elsewhere over a situation that you don't even know exists or not, let alone the reason why. That seems like a perfectly reasonable reaction to a situation which you aren't even sure exists.
While I am all about making sure our LE and military are taken care of, those affected need be careful about coming off as sounding as if they feel they are somehow "entitled" to a discount.
Maybe it could be as simple as they dont have product yet so they decided to stop piling up pre-orders until they do through one of the few channels they directly control?
Maybe on thier side, they take care of MIL/LE orders FIRST in the queue and therefore are concerned that if they continue to build orders in that channel, commercial orders may suffer and they fully intend to resume when they have product in hand?
Thats just it -- we don't know. Until you do, I think a lot of folks need to shut their pie holes about their expected LE/MIL discounts (without which they will whine and bitch apparently and not otherwise consider a product or a manufacturer) and also realize that local outlets will usually offer stronger LE/MIL pricing than often the manufacturer does.
-- OR wait a little bit. Ask some questions. If vortex' position is "screw you guys" maybe your wrath is warranted. It may be that they want to manage that channel in other ways and are still looking very hard to support you guys but temporarily had to halt or pull a discount through ONE channel for some reason.
