Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper PST 1-4 MRAD questions

For those running the PST, I am looking at the MRAD to top my SOCOM M1A. My wants is to stretch the legs with some better precision or ability to dissect targets better out to around 300 maybe 500 yet still work inside the house and out in the yard or bush. No comps, not an operator just average fun semi retired guy. I peeked through one yesterday and found the ret on the small side, hard for me to see and use its features. So, how does the ret work in the field?

Yea its on small side if you're going to use reticle for holdoffs or overs.
4x works 500-600 but ONLY if you have targets with good contrast against background.

Take a look on new PST 2.5-10x32. Very compact but still much better at desired ranges. FFP available too, which is big advantage compared to 1-4 IMO.

The reticle is on the smaller side, but it is still very usable to me. I believe it is a personal preference thing.

The reticle has to be small in order to subtend properly at only 4x magnification.

I went and checked it out again yesterday. I tried to use it for holds and ranging but had a very hard time using it inside. Worked best for me with on very light target, white in color and a darker background, vice verse and I could not distinguish the subtensions on a dark target. I would like to check it out outside in natural light but right now, I do not think the ret will work for me. I like everything about it to include the price so I have to figure out to drop the nuggets and not worry about the ret or look elsewhere.
