Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper vs Weaver Grand Slam Tactical

Re: Vortex Viper vs Weaver Grand Slam Tactical

I can only speak to weavers. Every weaver that I have is a great scope. IMO, alot of scope for the money. All that I own have great glass for the money, more than what I expected in that price range. Good scopes for the money. I can't compare to the viper though.

Re: Vortex Viper vs Weaver Grand Slam Tactical

The Weaver GS Tact. is gonna out perform the Vortex Viper. The vipers series are kinda hit and miss. Had 3 already and one was horrible and the other 2 were ok. I'd go Weaver!! Heck the grandslams with the one inch tubes and 40mm objectives just blow the vipers away from MY experience and your gonna get a added feature or 2 with the Tactical model too.

Hope it all works out

Re: Vortex Viper vs Weaver Grand Slam Tactical

Thanks for the replies and sorry for taking so long to reply back. I actually have both of theses scopes. It may be my eyes but I am now having trouble seeing clearly with my Vortex. When I first got it I thought it was similar to a Vari-x III but now it is blurry. The weaver is a excellent scope for the money. I recently put 1 on a 243 and I am loving the mil mil. It is nice to have a matching reticle and turret combination. I need to call Vortex soon I guess and see if I could return mine for repair.

Re: Vortex Viper vs Weaver Grand Slam Tactical

I have both scopes. I have 2 6-20x target dot vortex that I got on Sale. They are mounted on some 1022s and I have the 3-10 weaver mil scopes on some 22lr training rifles. I think the the vxIII and weavers are better IMO. I was considering getting one of the PSTs, however, after reading the reports, I will go with the SS5-20 or Mk4 or weaver tactical. I don't think the glass on the vortex is as good as some of the scopes I mentioned. Vortex does have outstanding CS. Depending on how far you plan on shooting will help you determine your choose.

Re: Vortex Viper vs Weaver Grand Slam Tactical

Have you confirmed that the diopter adjustment or parallax aren't the problem? Probably the first things I would check if the image quality suddenly seemed different.
