I didnt see much new info here on the vp9 long slide but when it was released. After 4 or so years now whats your thoughts. Is it worth it, have you enjoyed it and so on. If i come across a deal should I jump on it.

I have the VP9L OR. It is topped with a Trijicon SRO, which makes the slide length a moot point. It is boringly accurate, reliable, and easy to shoot well. Surprisingly, I find the longer slide makes AIWB carry more comfortable for me than shorter / smaller guns. Using a JC Custom Kydex.

A friend has the newer match long slide. That seems a bit too long, unless the extra sight radius is what you are looking for.

No this the exact info i need to hear about. I didnt realize the match was longer than the long slide. With AIWB carry whats your carry postion. I really like that you prefer the long slide for carrying. Havent found a setup yet that fits me.

And you don’t need the sight radius if you’re getting a dot. The match is a red headed step child type gun.
Ok makes sense. I have my VP9 with a red dot already will swap around if i ever get the slide kit. Still enjoy using irons because they never need batteries lol.

Eurooptic has listed 340 and Battlehawk armory has for 315. Not sure about battlehawk armory need to do some research on them. Seems to be mixed reviews so may not be worth the stress for a few bucks.

AIWB carry, I have a 3.25" Bul Armory 2011, generally I either have the holster company extend the holster a little, say, for a 3.75" sized gun, or I would just buy Staccato C2 holsters and use them.

Point there is, I would tend to agree that really short Appendix holsters can be a bit of a pain, but just because the gun is short doesn't mean you have to buy the short holster for it. I.E. if you own the P365 with the 3.1" barrel you can buy a holster for the P365 with the 3.7" barrel, still get the smaller 3.1" sized gun that'll clear the holster faster, but have a holster that's a bit longer and more comfortable... win win.

I carry a P320 with an x300 which means she's a bit over full-size for the holster size, 5"+. This is an upper limit type area for me but even so it's my choice for carry over others.

Don't have any info on the VP9 though, good luck with whatever you choose.

We have several iterations of the VP9 in our rental fleet. In general, HK makes quality pistols that are very reliable and durable. If you like the overall pistol, no reason not to get one.

I love mine. I have the older model with no optic cut outs. Had local gun shop do it for free due to how long they had my slide but not complaining one bit. Bought a aftermarket trigger kit, align tactical thumb rest and tlr1 hd on it i had laying around. After a day of choosing the combination of grip panels i liked. Then diy stempling on spare set it fits great. Now to find a load it likes to reload lol.

I carry right of the belt buckle so the muzzle fits in the inguinal crease, around the first belt loop on my Wranglers. Have driven for days like that and it works well for me. No doubt a longer holster with a standard length slide would achieve the same effect. And of course, if you are using a MRDS, slide length is moot, maybe even shorter is better.

I originally bought the complete slide assembly in one of the similar deals rather than sending a regular VP9 slide off for machining. It later turned into a whole other gun with a complete lower frame from Omaha Outdoors. Funny how that works.

But the VP9L is VERY accurate. In August I checked zero at 25 yards with my carry load, Speer 124gr +p Gold Dot. I put 5 under 1.5" and centered about an inch high of the X on a B-8.

I bought the first import era of the longslide alone (pre Optics cut, circa 2019? Or so), have had zero issues in the 30-32k rounds through it. Carried it for a few years appendix and as a match shooting rig with a PMM comp and a Jarvis barrel. Loved 115gr training ammo 124gr match ammo and 147gr +P defense ammo.

Ran 15rd 1st gen mags, 2nd gen 17rd flush mags, 20s and never had any issues.

Had LazyWolf do a trigger install and slide/frame rebuild when they started wearing thin.

It having different back straps and side panels makes it user configurable and overall, I’d gladly buy just the slide again for $600 again (granted you can get the whole gun for about that nowadays)

They are outstanding pistols. I switched from Glock to vp9s during the pandemic and have a fleet of them. Such a well built easy to shoot reliable and stupid accurate pistol. Have RMRs on 2 full sizes and need to order 2 more sk optics slides for the little ones. Have one full size that was among the first imports over a decade ago. It's been underwater, in the snow in the dirt, through pistol carbine classes, all over the country and lived in my truck. They are tanks and live up to the HK name.

While we only rent the VP9, we have not seen that problem (I am 100% going to check today) with pistols that are at least the round count you described. Was the wear on both the slide and the frame or just one part?
Most of the wear was in the frame inserts. They said it was serviceable for another 20k rounds before it was a real issue but I like a tighter frame-slide fit or atleast no wiggle wobble like its a glock

Do you think it is something avoidable? Like if you put a drop of oil on the wear section every 1k rounds?

On the long version, I would actually want a tight slide fit because the pistol is so accurate.
