Rifle Scopes VX-6HD Question

I'm thinking ab purchasing a new VX-6HD for a 300 WinMag build. I originally wanted a FFP scope but had kinda settled on the VX6-HD which is SFP. The rig would be mostly used for hunting but occasional target shooting out to 800 yds. What are your opinions on the scope for that application or should I revert and look for a FFP? Thanks for the help.

The glass in that scope is actually pretty damn good, it's the same as the mark5hd. If you don't need to use the reticle subtensions it's a fine scope for hunting.

The VX5 and 6HD are great optics. Leupold really got their shit together with the VX5/6HD and the mark 5. I have had 4 of them now and my only thing is that the impact 29 reticle is too fine for hunting (my opinion, disappears in low light) and the illumination button is ok at best. The tracking and glass quality were amazing. I sold my older nightforce NXS to get the Mark 5 and im glad I did. My only comparison of other high end optics is that NXS and the Leupold glass was better in my comparison. There are tons and tons of leupold VX5 and 6's out there on hunting rifles now and im not aware of any major complaints.

That's kinda where I'm going with my thinking too. If I buy the VX6, I'd get the TMOA reticle. Low magnification at low light I feel like I'd appreciate the SFP, in that situation.

I have a VX6HD and so far love it! I think it is going to work just fine for any hunting applications. I have been working up the dope out to 1,000 yards. Glass is excellent as is tracking in my opinion. Planning on at least 2 more. hope this helped.

I run a VX-6HD on a hunting rifle. Optical quality is great, very good in low light. The optic itself is lightweight and the aluminum lens covers are a nice touch and work great.

I think the VX5hd/6HD are excellent scopes for the money.
In my hunting experience SFP is the better way to go, you have a much better sized reticle on close range targets and when shooting long enough range that holds become important you will likely be on max magnification anyway.

My VX5hd and VX6 both track well and the TMOA is a great choice for hunting/targets.

I have 3 of them. Two are on 6.5-06 R700s, and one on a 280AI M70.
I have no complaints.
