I know the cardinal rule that your glass is the key. However, in the middle of my custom build (I posted about this about 18 months ago) I lost my job and everything had to be postponed.
Back in the workforce as of January, I just got my rifle delivered and am sending out the check for the bill: 24" .308 Rock barrel with Surgeon action, B&C tactical, Jewel trigger, etc. That leaves me with the following dilemma: do I buy a cheap scope, like a Millet or Falcon and get out there and start shooting again, or do I postpone for the roughly 12-14 months it would take to save up for the NF I wanted to get (and just shoot my handguns and ARs?)
I know in the AR world, it's typically "buy more ammo and practice" rather than buy more kit. So I'm tempted to go cheaper glass, get out there for practice, and then sell the scope off for an upgrade in a year or two (all the while getting sh*t for being "that guy" with a high-end gun and lower-end glass) Thoughts?
