Re: want to step up

I would put the Falcon Menace FFP as the next step up from a Millett, either the 4-14 or the new 5-25. $400-500 range.

next up from that

NF NXS 3-15 $1200 used??????

Re: want to step up

remember... a 1 MOA rifle with good glass is better than a .25 MOA rifle with shit glass anyday... you cant hit what you cant see

my falcon should be here anyday and i have a Nightforce as well... these are on top of my 22 and FN SPR...

Re: want to step up

You can never have to much scope for any given rifle. The glass is more important than the rifle.

That being said, my theory is: buy a good scope, it will be cheaper in the long run. If you keep working your way up, you wind up spending a lot more when you do get to the top level. Oh, and try to buy used. When you are talking about this level of glass, if you can save some cash its good. Plus, if you find this hobby is not for you, you will not take much of a hit on resale.

Caveat: Don't go and rush into a $1500+ scope until you KNOW what system/setup you like i.e. mil/mil, MOA/MOA, mil/MOA, simple reticle/MOA, etc.

If you are a totally blank slate (you do not have any experience or preconcieved notions about what system is better) I would say go ahead and start using (learning) the mil/mil.
