Was this a dumb trade Bushnell 3-21 Horus reticle for a Bushnell LRTSi 4.5-18

I traded a H59 gen2 Bushnell 3-21X for a 4.5-18X LRTSi because all my reticles now have the G3 reticle from my other Bushnell 4.5-18 and my 3-21x DMR scopes. I know it is kind of nuts but all my scopes I am focusing on the G3 reticle. All my scoped rifles have the that are not ARs (AR's get ACOG TA01NSN/TA02 or Aimpoint 2moa dots or Bushnell 1-6.5 CQ BDC reticles) rifles get the G3 get the G3 reticle. I am a little Autistic about this I guess. It will just lett me transition from one scope to another. The only other scopes I have is a Vortex 4-16 viper pst gen i sfp I got with when I bought my Begera as a packaged deal and a Leupold VX-R patrol 3-9X that I had on my SDM-R because it had a similar to me reticle as my TS-30A2 (military designation for Leupold's Mark 4 M3 2.5-8 x 36mm MR/T Illuminated riflescope) that we had on the M14 DMRs. I used one for a little while before I just turned it in for a M4 since well M16A4 and calling in Air stirkes did not make a lot of sense.

I never really used the HDMR scope because for a it was an impulse buy and I at the time only had one Begera BMP model and and a Mossberg MVP in .308. The rest were ARs. It was a place holder until I got all the other fancy gear and I have a PWS UXR on order in .308.

IMO, no. I’d consider it a lateral move rather than an up/down, though I probably would have done the same as I’m not a big fan of H59 but I love the G2/G3/G4 reticles.

If I want a slightly lighter rifle and don’t need quite as much elevation, the LRTS series is great for that. If weight doesn’t matter and you need a tiny bit more adjustment, the DMR2 gives you an extra 1x on the bottom and 3x up top. Glass is basically a wash between them more or less (though I may give a slight edge to the LRHS/LRTS line), but they’re otherwise very similar.

I’ve had both, liked both, and would/will own both again.

I have/had them both and it's pretty much a sideways move. Glass quality is the same so it would depend on your opinion of the reticle which you know you prefer the G3 better anyway. And there is something to be said about continuity of reticles across platforms.

It was definitely a win as far as weight goes, if I needed another solid lightweight scope for a build, the LRTS would be high on the list. Otherwise, I like both reticles and consider the DMR line of scopes one of the best all around optics available hands down.

Depends on if you got an HDMR or an HDMR2. 10 mil turrets and zero stop, it's a dmr2 and a very similar scope to the lrtsi, but the lrtsi 4.5-18 are bringing a couple hundred more than the dmr2 right now.
