I have been at drum since 99.
The ccw are a little hard to get here.
Minimum of 4 witnesses that have known you for 5 plus years(they will contact them) notarised afadavits from them.
Clean background check, civilian, military and family courts.
letter signed by your command informing the command of your intentions.
A recognized NRA certified pistol instruction class, or M9 qual of recent timeframe.
A NY legal handgun or one of yours legally transferred in from FFL to FFL.
6 -12 months of free time to wait for them to investigate you and hopefully get back to you saying you are approved.
$10 for the paperwork packet, and once completed about 125 for picture and print fees, then $ 3 per firearm on the permit
As far as local clubs go There is the watertown sportsmans club, Sacketts harbor shooting club, Brownville sportsmans club.
Most are more trap oriented, rifle ranges to 100yds at most.
Occasionally FT Drum range control opens the KD range to the public, and sometimes hosts a .50 cal shoot.
