WCRC is holding a fall match with a make up date Clyde got us.



The course of fire will be two 1000 yard prone matches. All NRA rifle classes are welcome. If you have a question about your gear, please just drop me a note and I'll do my best to let you know if it will work, etc.



Registration for the match will be 8:00Am central. Firing will begin at 9:00AM Central.



Match fees for the day will be $15. This is a non-approved club match, so come out and enjoy it.

Just a reminder that the long range match on October 10th is confirmed.

Registration: We will open the gates at 8AM, registration will be from 8AM CST to 8:50 CST.

Firing Time: Firing will begin at 9:15 CST.

Course of fire: two (2) 1000 yard matches, four relay rotation.

Match fees: $15 for the day, Juniors always shoot free

Classes: All NRA long range rifles classes (prone and F class) are welcome. If you have something that falls just out, drop me an email and we'll see what we can work out. Can't lay in the prone and need a table? We can work with that, if you bring the table. I cannot remember a time we have turned a shooter away from a club match because of equipment.

Directions from Nashville: I-24 to exit 117. Exit and turn west (toward the Air Force Base). Drive 8.9 miles and there will be a brown sign on the right that says Arnold Rifle Ranges, the road directly after that is B-5. Turn right onto B-5 and the range is one mile up on the right. Come through the gate to the right and we will assemble at the pavilion.

The weather is supposed to be beautiful. I hope to see many of you out there.

Warren County Rifle Club held its 4th match of the year yesterday, and 10-10-10 was a great day to have a match. We had thirty one shooters come out to enjoy the day, with three juniors and seven new shooters coming out to try their skills. We ran a four shooter relay rotation. Match start was 0930 and ended at 1600.
The weather was as good as I’ve seen on AEDC in eight years. We started the day at 0930, with an ambient temperature of about 65*f. Wind was extremely light with not more than a few MPH most of the day, but in typical AEDC fashion it was fishtailing with several mini-gusts and let offs. Mirage was up and reflecting changes perfectly. The target faces were fully lit by the start of the second match. The high temp on range during the match was around 85*f. We ran one flag (pit wall), which was all but worthless most of the day, and as usual it was a lair.
Nine Prone shooters came out to enjoy the day. Requirement for the win was at least on one iron sight match, but it was open as to when irons were shot. Top score of the day, with one A/A one A/I was Chris Hayes with a 398-12x. Keith Perry was right there with a 395-21x, shooting irons throughout the day. Keith’s first match was a 199-14x in some pretty hazy, dark conditions. Matt Kubic was high Palma shooter, with a 389-9x and Laura Perry was high woman, putting up an iron sight score of 385-11. Greg Hamilton’s first effort at 1000 yards resulted in an impressive 362-8x with a 6BR.
F class open had nine shooters. Steve Wells score of 377-7x took top spot in class. Steve has been right one the verge for a while now and it was good to see him take the win. Just two points down was Clinton Roberts, who put up a 375-4x. Chuck Nicholas was the top new shooter in Open class with a 361-1, just ahead of two other new shooters, Jeremy Hayes and Nick Nickolas, who put up 359-1 and 356-4 respectively.
F TR was again our biggest class, with thirteen shooters. Campbell Boyd is no stranger to the top spot, and he took it again yesterday with a 363-3x. Steve Grammer was close behind with his 357-1 taking second spot and Dave Espy in third with a 355-2. We had four new F TR shooters. Travis Dickson took top honors for the new F TR shooters with a 349-1. Randy Newman’s 343-4 was a great effort as well as the 316-0 and 296-1 that John Price and Aaron Newman put into the books.
I would like to thank all that came out and participated. You all made this another safe and successful event. I would like to thank Jack Dickson, who was the Highland Rim RSO for us today. Jack made this match possible with merely his presence. Thanks to Clyde Kunz for organizing this pick-up date and a HUGE thank you to the TN NG and the Air Force for the range improvements. For those that haven’t been there in some time, we have all brand new metal number boards, range fans and new plastic uprights that worked fantastic. The carriers were also painted high visibility yellow, which was a nice touch. The range was mowed and in great condition, and the new pavilions look fantastic.
I am not aware of any new dates this season, though stay tuned because you never know. Until the next time,
