not sure this is the correct forum but...looking for recommendations and experience with weapon light/laser combos (AR under barrel front mount). looked at the crimson trace grip control unit. control placement is vg but it's quite expensive and has mixed reviews. there are a bunch of units on the market but some of their very low prices are worrysome. i know this is an item that is high tec and likely to be expensive. reviews all over the place, but it's the internet,so? looking in about the $200 range. if anyone has some input it's appreciated.

yea, figured price would be a sticking point. might have to bag the plan. would only get min (hope never) use as a home defense accessory item. will keep looking and watching opinions here. thanks.

A solid flashlight is a way better way to go for a carbine for HD. Combine that with a good RDS, and you are set.

Are you asking about an IR aiming laser? Or a visible laser?

Generally speaking, visible lasers are a poor choice for long gun applications save for a very few professional circumstances, under almost all of which, you will most likely have a multi-function laser aiming module (like the ATPIAL or MAWL) that has an onboard visible laser along with the IR laser and illuminator.

I would recommend putting all of that money towards a quality light, and/or towards a red dot sight of some sort, and while $200 will still be a stretch, it will stretch much further to getting you a quality light/put towards an optic than looking for some sort of "lazer site."
