Weapon Mounted Light for SBR

I "lego'ed" by light. I have an IWC Thorntail Backbone body with a Malkoff E1T head. I prefer the beam pattern of the Malkoff E1T. I used to have a Scout Mini on my MK18.

I like the Surefire's.
On the SBR / SBS platforms the problem is one of limited rail real estate that can impair establishing a proper fore grip.
Here's a few of my setups.

Noveske N4 10.5" that I have a X300 on the left side as a backup to the mini-scout. CIMG2190 copy.jpg

A 8" Glock-based Wilson Combat AR9 8" with offset X400 (light / laser) on ADM mount.

A 9" PWS .300 Blackout with X300 ultra.

A Benelli M4 14" Entry with Surefire quad rail and X400.

A Mossberg 590A1 14" with Surefire rail and mini-Scout.
Wow, quite collection. Thanks for the size reference. It will be plenty of help.

I run a Streamlight TLR2 High Lumen with green laser on both my 10.3" 5.56 SBR and 10.5" 300blk SBR. Manipulation with my grip around the DD MFR is second nature. Nice and bright

I too have been thinking about this topic for a couple weeks i have mainly been looking at the surefire x300 but im wanting to swap this light from a pistol to the sbr as i want.

On this SBR with unconventional Wilson Combat "trim rails" the Surefire pressure switch on the 9 / 12 o'clock rail is awkward to activate with the thumb, so I installed it at 10:30 with some T-nuts and it doesn't occupy the natural thumb placement @ 9, the bonus being it is much more ergonomic to depress the switch.

I have a Streamlight Protac 1 Rail Mount in a Gear Sector offset scout mount. It is obviously not a Surefire, but it's held up very well for me. Streamlight has a great reputation anyhow. The offset mount is very solid, and puts the light right where it needs to be for me to activate the tailcap with my support side thumb.

It's on a 11" SLR rail. I could have shifted my support grip a LITTLE further forward by putting the light on the other side and putting the tape switch at 12 o'clock. But I don't trust those things, it's just one more thing to break

The only thing I would do different is get a rail with an M-lok slot at 10-11 o'clock and use an Arisaka inline mount. Even then, I am not sure it would place a scout light any further forward than a Gear Sector offset rail mount.

On my LWRC I either use an Inforce at the 12 or 6 o'clock position (prefer 12:00) or a SureFire handheld light (don't remember which model) in a Magpul mount at the 10-11 o'clock position. My franken AR wears a SF scout light at the 9:00 position with the pressure switch taped onto a vertical foregrip... I've also ran the StreamLight HL lights, usually at the 12:00, but have since put them on my handguns instead.

I keep a Surefire M300 mini scout on my SBR, an old 200 lumen model. I find anything brighter to be too bright for indoor use. I switch out to a newer M600 model for outdoor night use.
