Weatherby 307 Builders Action

I used one to replace a Stiller that was annoying me.

Thoughts:
Didn't like the Peak 44 rail they push, so I used a Murphy. Didn't use their pinned lug, but it looked fine/ground. I've seen mosquitos with bigger nutsacks than that bolt knob they used, but it was an easy swap. And the trigger pin tolerances were unnecessarily tight. Had to polish on the pins. But after that...

Seems like a great basic 700 clone. Nothing special, nothing bad. Its starting to slick up (60 rounds today). No sear engagement issues, no feeding issues (Hawkins hunter dbm), primers look good.

Did you feel like it was kinda clunky out of the box? I assume that's what you mean by "starting to slick up". I have handled 2 of the in shops, and I wanted to like them, and wasn't expecting a worked over prs action, but I thought it was pretty unpleasant to cycle, small sample size of course..

Overall tolerances seem fine, meaning tight enough to not wobble but also not fighting me. Very Bergara ish. I think whatever coating is on it is not perfectly even. So rather than a tight machining tolerance, its a tight coating tolerance which should wear but does seem "clunky" at first I guess.

There are two "sticky" spots on the bolt raceways, and it would explain the tight pin holes. The locking lug edges are showing where the wear points have begun. I think by 200 rounds it will be functionally as smooth as any other upgraded 700 action. I wouldn't put it on par with any of my custom actions, but I like it fine and plan to keep it in use.
