Rifle Scopes Weaver Tactical Grand Slam mil/mil

Finally I got the Weaver Tactical Grand Slam in Mil/Mil 3-10x40. Sadly It's not FFP but for the price I can't complain, and there is a coupon on the hide for $100 off. I got the scope, rings and Butler Creep flip caps for $375 shipped!

At first I was a little skeptical about the scope, but I was pleasantly surprised. The glass is very clear and consistent through out the magnification. The knobs are solid and the clicks are prominent. Not as prominent as my SSHD, but close enough.

I still have not had a chance to test the tracking, so stay tuned for that.

The only bummer so far is that the focus on the rear makes it difficult and awkward to operate with the caps on.

You only focus that one time, and it may not even be necessary, they are usually set for those with 20/20 vision.

It is NOT like a parralax focus, it is to focus on the crosshairs only.

Maybe I am missing something, but why does it have "Midway USA" engraved in the objective end?

It's on a Sako Quad, the dots represent the different rimfire caliber that can be put on.

Possibly, but I found my self having to adjust it when I turn the magnification up so there would be no parralax.

It's only available through Midway. It's their exclusive scope.

The rear adjustment is diopter, not parallax. If you have to adjust it for different magnifications there is something wrong with the scope.

I personally don't think you can compare the Weaver to the Super Sniper... at first glance they have a similar "look" but are clearly not in the same class as each other.

But the Weaver is a good scope in its class which is that of a $300 scope. I think with the 1" tube it is a good scope for a tactical trainer type rifle like a .22 that is very popular, especially if you want to use Mil / Mil you are getting a good scope to practice with.

You're right about comparing the two. The SSHD is a lot nicer, but like you said this is a great scope for a trainer and right where it's going.

Are you doing a review on this soon? I curious to see how it track on its limits.

Adjust the diopter once.
The parallax is fixed, if you are having issues at close range, decrease the magnification.

I have one on my rock river arms a4 308. I bought it specifically
because it dont have parallax adjustment the rifle will be a general purpose weapon and white tail deer and coyotes dont stand around all day waiting for a person to adjust there scope. I have shot at 300 yds adjusting the elevation then backed it off to zero and used the mil-dot for hold over at 300 yds and the results were close enough it would of been a kill shot on a deer or yote easy enough. I dont have any experience with the super sniper scopes so i cant compare but I will say so far I am satisfied with the weaver for my needs . if I was a proffesional gun fighter , contractor or what ever I wouldnt even stop at the mid range price point scopes . I would go for a proven combat tested optic reguardless of what I think about weaver , super sniper, millet and other popular brands.

Well if you look at the picture you can see that the scope cross hairs are square with the frame of the picture which is fine as long as the rifle is also lined up vertical to be square with the frame of the picture but if you look at the rifle it looks like it is leaning right. Take a ruler and bisect the rifle down the middle and you will see that the ruler is leaning right while your reticle is still vertical. I believe that is what the other guy is talking about. I don't think you have a canted reticle issue with the scope just the installation where you have the scope slightly canted in relation to the rifle.

After a while I did get the scope centered. It was really hard to do because of the small flat area on the bottom of the scope an the rail being open along the action.

I have two of them and they are a great scope. I have one on a ruger gunsite rifle and other one may go on the my ar 6.8.

Like stated above comparing to the HD is not fair. Completely different price ranges!

I had a 16x SS and from what I "remember" my weaver may have an edge in the clarity department, but hard to make a fair comparison based on memory. IMHO I think the weaver turret adjustments are much nicer than the standard SS turrets.
Personally, I think for the budget the weaver is a very nice tough option for an exposed turret optic. Mine has been mounted on my 22 and has served me nicely so far!

Nothing wrong with the scope. It has a fixed parallax, likely set at 100 or 150yds. This scope is currently on a 22lr rifle with the most common shooting distance of 50yds. At that distance there's going to be some parallax..... no two ways about it.
