I have a new Ruger 10/22 31215, which is a short gun with a threaded muzzle and a rail. It never occurred to me when I bought this thing that Ruger might make a weird rail that gives people problems. I see people on the web saying the rail is neither a Picatinny nor Weaver rail, but some kind of bizarre thing Ruger cooked up to fit everything.
Is this true? I want to put an Athlon Argos 2-12x42mm on it, but I don't want to buy rings or a mount until I know what Ruger is up to.
Looks like I will need rings with a height of over 0.92" to make sure the 2" bell clears the barrel.
I guess I could get a new rail.
