Sorry for the out-of-focus pics. My camera has been acting up.

Working with Aluma-Hyde was a bit more challenging than expected because the sprayer became clogged rather quickly. It appears to be a thick coating. I prep'd the rifle by hanging it from the ceiling by the rear receiver screw hole with heavy guage wire. I sprayed it down with automotive Brake Parts Cleaner. Then dried it with a blow-dryer on High Heat. I applied the Aluma-Hyde in several coats, hitting it with the blow-dryer between each coat. I only painted the barrel because the receiver is already black. I taped off everything from the recoil lug back. I made sure not to paint the lug itself. I also painted the shiney aluminum parts of the stock so the whole rifle will be black. If anyone has any questions about this stuff I'd be happy to answer them from a non-bias standpoint.

Yea... I know. This was my first time using Aluma-Hyde. I've painted the hell out of other rifles with Krylon or Rustoleum. I try to paint them based on what will look good on them. This one has sort of an SSG3000 look to it so I thought just Black would be fine. If I get a different stock I'll re-think it.

Brownells.com who sells the AH-II has a couple of good video tutorials on using that finish, check there for some tips on the clogging problem. I believe the AH-II should have came with cleaning nozzles for the exact purpose. You can also turn the can upside down if you have let the Can sit for a while and give it a few sprays upside down to clean the nozzle.

Congrats! Rifles looks better now.

Seems like the barrel was polished, or at least had a brushed stainless finish? Do you have any problems with AH-II coming off on the semi-polished surfaces?

I watched one of their videos but that one didn't address clogging. Mine clogged while I was spraying. I didn't let it sit. I had to force brake cleaner thru the nozzle to clear it.
Thanks for the compliment!
