So... I won me this over on The eBay:
Arrived today, so obviously I kissed my UPS driver (with tongue) and absconded with my new toy like a little boy on Christmas morn.
I’ve never had a 20km rangefinder before, primarily because I’ve never needed one. I have a Sig Kilo 2K and that things flat-out awesome!
eBay apparently knows me better than I know myself, so this came in my daily eBay “You may also be interested in...” email.
Hell yeah, I was interested!
I did some research and these things are coveted and extremely rare. They usually go for $5-7K, which I would never pay (would get a PLRF at that price), but figured I’d snipe it anyway and try my luck.
BOOM! Winner!
It’s old and uses a super funky, very expensive laser type in the standard 1550nm range. It makes a funky noise when you hit the range button. It take 8x AA’s and weighs a metric shit-ton, but it works spectacularly. Gonna try to range some airliners at altitude. Might try ranging the moon tonight.
