Wet Tumbling Stupid Question

Ive been using a wet tumbler to clean my brass for about 4 years now, I cant seem to get the brass of my 308 Winchester to be as bright and shiny as my 300 win mag or 223 brass.

I dont know if its something Im doing wrong or if its just how the brass acts. Is there any way that I can get this brass back to looking good. I know my issue is merely cosmetic but I like my ammo to look as good as it shoots.

Yeah, I doubt hot water is going to make much (if any) difference.

The one difference I have found, that hot water makes, is that it is more effective at getting the primer pockets clean.

You're not overfilling the container with your 308 brass, are you? You need some room for the brass and media to move around. I wet tumble piles of LC 7.62 brass, and it comes out more like your 300wm. Also, go easy on the lemi-shine. Too much and it actually seems to tarnish.

that's what i use also, but was following a thread on here the other day, and it didn't sound like that was what some were using now. Just wondering

My brass comes out looking shiny and beautiful. Then turns dull and tarnished. Using water, steel pins, dawn and lemishine. I let it dry on an old bathroom towel over the dog crate to dry. I was told if i dried it in the sun it would stay shiny.

Less time spent reloading means more time is available to shoot. What do you think will make you a better shooter, Benchrest Shooters shoot insanely small groups with brass that is only wiped off, that's a F-ing clue, uber clean brass has zero affect on Accuracy .

I use cold water, lemishine, steel pins and dish soap. Tumble for 2 hrs and let dry on a tower on the back patio or on the garage floor on a towel. I've never had any problems with them have a dull look to them unless I handle them and let them sit for a few days. If I wash them in the morning they will be dry by later afternoon with this nice warmth we have.

I agree that you can definitely add too much lemishine. I just use a dash or you can fill a 45 acp shell full and dump it in. Less is more

That’s way too much. A quarter teaspoon per gallon of water is correct. That’s about a .32acp case full.

Mine comes out shined AF, but if it sits for a few weeks it turns dull. Especially if they are annealed before they sit.

I’ve always attributed it to high relative humidity ?‍
