What about a Ruger SR-22

Guys I am wanting to get a suppressed 10/22, my options are just a run of the mill 10/22 integrally suppressed or a SR-22 done the same way. My question would be to those who know about the SR-22.... are there any downsides to this platform? Is it as reliable as a bone stock 10/22? Pro's and con's of both I guess. I know the price is about 250 more, info regarding functionality and reliability is what I am after.

The SR-22 is a 10/22 with a Nordic Chassis on top. No difference in the action so there is no difference in reliability. You can make those rifles shoot really well. Accuracy comes mostly from the barrel you use.

Thansk gszeto99, thats part of what i wanted to confirm.

In addition would the bull barrel that comes with the SR-22 be more accurate than they 18.5 barrel that comes on the 10/22 carbine? If so that could help me justify some cost difference. If I am going to be shelling out the money for the integral suppressor, I want it to be mated on a barrel that will actually shoot.

I don't think the SR-22 comes with a BULL barrel at least not the .920 inch barrels. If you do get a SR-22 there is a V-shaped block that is inside the front part of the handguard and is used to "support" the barrel. I suggest you take that out for best accuracy. All of my 10/22 shoot best with free floated barrels -including the one I have inside my nordic chassis (aka sr-22 chassis).

The vblock is the only thing that holds the reciever/action/trigger group to the barrel itself is it not? pretty sure you'd have to have a gunsmith thread both the receiver and barrel for the thing to not fall apart...

Not that v-block. I did not know what to call it but there is another block at the front of the hand guard (I am looking at a PDF of the instruction manual for the SR-22 on Ruger's Website and they call it a "barrel support" part number BSR16700.

did a google search and found out that people are saying the barrel diameter is in between a standard contour and a .920 bull that it is actually .75 od at the muzzle. Gene in your opinion and since you have some would you expect the .75 barrel on the sr-22 to be superior to the standard contour on a 18.5 carbine 10/22?
