What am I seeing here?

I have an inexpensive scope on my 10/22. A couple of weeks ago, it went blurry and I could see a thick,black,opaque vertical band through the scope. I put the gun away and shot something else. When I got home, I was looking at the scope again and it was back to normal. I shot again yesterday and it went blurry and the band was back. Heres a photo through the scope. Do I have a loose objective inside of this scope that is reseating itself? Thats what it looks like to me.

If It wasnt a new-ish lens, I would. I have a email into the manufacturer,but havent heard back from them.

Maybe a lens popped loose and what your seeing is the barrel??

Lens edges aren't finished like the surfaces, couple that with adhesive residue and I think you have your opaque band.
EDIT:
I'll actually say translucent rather than opaque, that looks like some of the ground color in the middle of the dark band to me.

That was kind of my thought. I pulled the scope off after I posted this and it sounds like there is something loose in the barrel

what you are seeing is the reason you should avoid inexpensive scopes.

Well, Happy Ending. The scope manufacturer sent me a brand new scope to replace the messed up one. I've already replaced it,so in the safe it goes as a "just in case" scope

no, but I'm sure an element in the tube came loose. I cant imagine what else it could have been.

Return it as bad. Its faster to order a new one and its easier to deal with a return on a newly purchased product vs an older one. Most cheap products dont have a very good warranty or customer service if any. Amazon and most retail have a time limit on returns.

I dont feel the slightest bit sorry for Amazon if they loose a few bucks here and there for selling cheap Chinese products designed to last just long enough for the 30day warranty to expire.

To your point, you agree to a contractual transaction with a vendor, knowing full well how they conduct their business, the longevity of the product, and their return policy. How is this the fault of the vendor?

I’m somewhat affiliated with Amazon so I may be partially biased. Your modern day “Robinhood” approach is commendable, but fraud is fraud.
