I am considering a LMT MWS and a POF 308. Problem is LMT wieghs a ton ~12 lbs because it has a really thick barrel, almost an inch thick. Why so thick? What are the effects besides saving weight to contouring it to a normal size like on a deer rifle? How much weight would I save you think?
