no clue. i just threw the target together, then figured putting some nomenclature on it, just in case.
if there is interest in getting this as a monthly thing, i'd imagine 25 or 50 yards to see what happens then maybe add it to the monthly short range competitions.
but that's up to everyone else - rules would be easy:
WHAT BUGS ME - or whatever you guys want to call it
Match: WBM25YD or WBM50YD (add a B for bench or P for prone after the YD)
Name: John D. Shooter
Rifle: Manufacturer, Model
Caliber: .22LRr, .22mag, .17HMR, .17HM2
Ammo: Manufacturer, type
Sights: Scope, other
Score:
the only decision would be if hitting them in the wings (that are outstretched and the grasshopper wings) counts or not.
i tried to match them up to the size of dead things found on the window sill in my garage to get some scale, the flies are slightly different sized on the target. i just came in from outside where it's now dimlight after sundown, looks that the print is bold enough to see at 50 yards in the low light through the scope so should be good in normal light.
sort of puts a spin on a dot drill and documents the ol' "it can hit a fly at X yards"
gradual higher point rating for the smaller the bug as it'll be harder to hit the flies than the bees or grasshopper.
just noticed i'm missing a P in PTs after the fly score, i'll edit it.

a dab of jelly or honey smeared on the target is popular.
taxidermy fees are cheap too
