I have a 308 (175SMK) and 300WM (190BVLD) that I shoot a lot. Anyhow I picked up a older 30-06 match type rifle that I would like to stretch out and see how she shoots. It has a 11 twist barrel so I am leaning towards 175SMK's. Any thoughts on this? I thought about dropping it off and having it turned/rechambered in 308 but I might as well try the '06.

I've noticed that everyone ignored the 175SMK. Has anyone tried them for long range '06? I have a nice old pre-64 Win in '06, and was wondering the same thing as the OP, and I happen to have a few thousand 175SMKs.

It will work just like in a .308 but a little faster. The joy of having more powder pushing them is to use a higher BC bullet. If you want to use the 175s then they will work but I would use atleast the 190s or the 178 BTHP from Hornady which has a .530 BC which is almost that of the 190s at .533. Being lighter you can get them going faster. The 208 AMAX would be a better option in the 300WM and 30-06 though.
